    Android themer extraordinaire and friend of Droid Life, Bgill55, released the DL-esque version of his famous Synergy theme to the market today (buy it here).  It’s all sorts of pink goodness – just like we take it.  The theme will run for $0.99 if you would like to pick it up now, or you can hope to win 1 of 10 copies that he has allowed us to give away.

    We should remind you though, that this is for CyanogenMod-based ROMS and Theme Chooser, so if you aren’t on CM or even rooted for that matter, then you may want to leave your name out of this one.

    Over the last couple of weeks, Pool Party ( the G+-esque photo sharing app) upped invites for current users from just 5 all the way to 20.  And being the giving group that we are here at Droid Life, we decided to give them all away.  Actually, we’ll go ahead and give 40 away, because we can!

    Koush’s DeskSMS application has been out for almost a month now, growing into one of the more useful apps we have seen in quite some time.  The idea – send text messages from anywhere using Gmail, Google Talk, or (newly added) Chrome extension.  It has received enough updates, polish, and stability over the last few weeks to take it from being free to a subscription-based service.  Since Mr. Dutta is a big fan of DL and loves to give back to the Android community in general, he tossed us five (5) 1-year subscriptions to give away today!  Each valued at $4.99 per year.

  • Motorola Plans to Hand Out Photon 4Gs for the Entire Month of August in a Daily “Lighting Hour”

    Motorola has launched a new contest called the “Lightning Hour” that will run from today through the end of August and reward lucky readers with prizes like the Photon 4G.  Each contest will be up for one hour each day (the “Lightning Hour”) and will require entrants to complete some sort of simple task.  The tasks will be announced through Moto’s social networks:  Twitter and Facebook.  Once you see the tweet or wall post for each day’s hour, you will have limited time to jump on it, so be quick!  Today for example, all you have to do is head to their Facebook page, watch a video, and then enter in your info.

  • Custom Launcher Icons is Throwing a “Slick Home Screen” Competition, Enter to Win an Asus Transformer

    Our buddy J. Hancock of Custom Launcher Icons is running a “Slick Home Screen” competition which is essentially a, “Who has the coolest looking home screen” contest and asked that we helped judge it.  (Scary, right?)  He’s also grabbed Fede of LauncherPro, Ander from ADW as additional judges to name a few.  It should be worth jumping onto if you are interested in winning….wait for it….an Asus Transformer.  Not a bad prize for simply submitting a home screen.

    How can you enter?

    All of the official details are at the link below, but essentially all you need to do is use icons or docks from the Customer Launcher Icons app, set up your screens and submit them.  And since we know that DL readers have the hottest screens on the planet, we’re expecting one of you to come out on top.  Voting begins on July 20 – top 3 will be chosen on July 27.  That’s when the judges take over.

  • Who Wants a Pool Party Invite? (Updated)

    Pool Party is this semi-secret group photo sharing service for Android that is sort of like Google+ in that users can only join if they are invited by someone who is already in the program.  It also functions in a similar way in that it allows you to choose select groups (Pools) of people to share specific items (photos) with – sort of like G+’s Circles.  It hasn’t received nearly the publicity that G+ has, but we’re going to do our best to change that since we’re already becoming big fans of it.

    And how do we plan to do that?  By giving away 5 invites to the fantastic readers of this blog.  All you have to do is fill in the blanks to this sentence:

  • Contest: Kovdev Releases Tha Plus Theme Based On Google+, And We Have Three Copies To Give Away

      

    Kovdev has been pumping out work like crazy lately, and he and Tha Plash’s latest creation is entitled Tha Plus. It looks like they were highly influnced by the newest social networking crazy, Google+. The coolest part though, is Droid Life is getting a big kick down from these boys, and they’re lowering the Market price from $2.99 for the Pro version, to just $1.99 for 48 hours.  (more…)

  • Want to Win a Toshiba Thrive Tablet? Make Your Friends Watch this Video Then

    The Toshiba Thrive is one of the new Tegra 2 Honeycomb Android tablets that we really haven’t talked much about, but wanted to at least point out the fact that you have a chance to win 1 right now.

    Through Toshiba’s site, they are offering up 10 Thrive tablets to people who simply find a secret code somewhere in the video that we’ve embedded below.  It’s pretty simple, but it does sound like you need to let your friends know to watch the video over and over again, because as we understand it, the secret code won’t appear until the video has been seen 10,000 times.   (more…)
