We kicked off our first ever Reader Appreciation Week yesterday with the announcement that we’d be giving away 3 different tablets: an Asus Transformer 16GB, Acer Iconia, and Motorola XOOM WiFi. First up was the Transformer, which is one of (if not the) hottest Honeycomb tablets on the market. All you had to do to win it was retweet a simple message on Twitter – something almost 4,000 of you did in just over 24 hours. Pretty remarkable.

Day 2 of Reader Appreciation Week has begun! We just handed out two limited edition DL hoodies and are just hours away from giving out an Asus Transformer. So what can we do from now until then? How about hand out more ridiculously hard to find Android swag? If you thought the Transformer was tough to get a hold of, try asking around to see if anyone owns a case of Series 2 Android Mini Collectibles. It’s a pretty exclusive club and we want to make you a part of it.
What we have pictured above is an unopened, fully-intact and unharmed case. Those free-floating collectibles on top are simply from our personal collection and are there just for show. The box we’re giving you hasn’t been touched and should include 1 of every Series 2 collectible including a mystery bot.

We asked you last night what your dream device would be and boy did you guys come through in a big way. With over 2,000 comments that just took me an hour to sift through, we’ve picked two winners. The decision was not easy…
Verizon, motorola, nexus, unlocked. Enough said.
My dream tablet:
-Would suffer from processor WINE…yes that’s right…the processor would produce wine. If you’re playing Angry Birds, it would dispense chilled white wine. If you’re watchin videos, room temperature red wine.
-Would be powered by a remote charger with unlimited range…the power source for this charger would be Governor Tom Corbett running in a human hamster wheel…one mile for each dollar he cuts from education funding.
-Would be free but supported by ads for Preparation H with the following slogan: “If you don’t have hemorrhoids, you don’t have hemorrhoids.” Of course I fully anticipate a lawsuit from Apple for overwhelming marketing similarities…and they would be right…both hemorrhoids and the iPhone are a pain in the rear.

With it being Reader Appreciation Week here at DL, it’s time to give more stuff away! How about a couple of our favorite hoodies? We made sure to hang on to a few of the extra special Limited Edition Droid Life ones just for occasions like this. What do we mean by “extra special?” Well, we put out the limited version on sale for one week only, but we had some custom made just for the DL crew with pink lettering to give it that extra flair. So these really are something that no one else can have except for the lucky two that we’ll be picking from the comments of this post.
So here’s how this will go down:

This puppy will show up as “in stock” through an online retailer and disappear within minutes; it’s been wild. It’s running stock Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), boasts a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of internal storage, front and back cameras, and one of the nicest 10″ screens you’ll ever see. Oh, it also has this really nifty keyboard dock (sold separately) that can essentially turn your tablet into a fully working laptop. Yep, it’s a beast of a tablet – arguably the best on the market today.

Been wondering what last week’s teases were all about? Here is your answer.
Over the next 5 days, we’ll be doing our best to give and show thanks to the greatest Android community in the entire world. Without the contributions from all of you, this site would never have grown into what we think is one hell of a place to talk about all things tech. The stories and experiences, tips, tricks, favorite apps and occasional jabs at our fruit foes have made this into a special place to spend your days on the internet.
The Plan:
So the goal is to take everything that you are seeing pictured above (plus more), and hand it all out through a variety of contests and giveaways. That’s right – those 3 tablets (Asus Transformer, Motorola XOOM WiFi, and Acer Iconia), case of Series 2 Mini Collectibles, DL limited sweatshirts and T’s, various applications, etc. will be in the hands of DL readers very soon. We’re incredibly excited to have the opportunity to do something like this. And while we wish we could have done even more, we hope that this week will touch at least a little on how thankful we are to have spent the last year and a half with all of you.
Schedule of Events:
It’s clear that there are 3 major toys up there that you will all be vying for, so to make it easier for you to sign up to win one we thought we’d let you know how this will go down. In about an hour, we’ll open up the entry period (details still to come) for the Asus Transformer (16GB model). On Tuesday (tomorrow), we’ll cut it off at 2PM Pacific and choose a winner. Then on Wednesday morning, we’ll open up the entry period for the Acer Iconia with a winner being chosen the following day (Thursday) at 2PM Pacific. The Wifi XOOM will be last to go and will have an open entry period starting Friday morning and running all Memorial Day weekend with a winner being chosen on the following Tuesday (May 31). So we’ll be focusing on each tablet for almost a full 2 days before choosing a winner. We’ll notify you on entry details and requirements each of those mornings.
The rest of the stuff (shirts, collectibles, apps, etc.) will be given away at random, spurt-of-the-moment times throughout the rest of the week. You could win by doing something as simple as answering a question that we pose on Twitter or Facebook. It’s going to be a wild time, so like we mentioned on Friday, you may want to follow us on Twitter and Facebook if you aren’t already. Subscribing to our feed will also be essential since many of these things will be given away from details through a blog post. We’d hate for you to miss out on a chance to win one of these fabulous prizes.

Get your Twitter clients ready for a new DROID contest courtesy of our friends behind the @DroidLanding account. After almost 5 months of silence, they just sent a tweet which we’re assuming is hinting at some DROID Charge or Incredible 2 goodness. Both phones should be here on April 28 – it’s about to get silky in here.

It’s hard to believe that March Madness has come and gone so quickly because that also means we have a winner (or two) in our Droid Life NCAA Bracket Challenge! Even though my bracket went bust some time in the elite 8, many of you still had more than 1 team heading into the final weekend. With UConn coming out on top, two players tied with a total of 1230 points, so it came down to the tiebreaker to decide the official winner.
So who was it?
Rafael G. is your DL Bracket Challenge winner with 1230 total points and a final score of 142 for the tiebreaker, beating out B. Russell by just 6 points. Rafael will be awarded $100 cold hard PayPal cash, but I decided not to stop there. Both of our top two players will also receive 2 Android mini-collectibles (1 original and 1 series 2 mystery box) for being dominant forces in this year’s challenge.
Congrats guys!
