  • Essential Phone Drops to $499 for Good, Early Adopters Get $200 Credit Too

Essential Phone Drops to $499 for Good, Early Adopters Get $200 Credit Too

Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone is now a $499 phone. And no, this isn’t just a temporary discount, Essential is slashing $200 off the price of the phone, likely in a move to move some units and get their product in more hands.

The company announced the price drop through a blog post last night, stating that they want to “make it even easier for you to experience” their products and brand. Instead of spending a bunch of money on a marketing campaign, they figure that a discount to the phone might be a better approach.

You should consider one now, right?

Wait, so at $499, is the Essential Phone now a slam dunk deal? I’m kind of thinking so. The phone is now competing with the OnePlus 5 as a somewhat-affordable flagship phone with top tier specs, yet it has far superior hardware (titanium body). While it may lack water resistance, headphone jack, and a best-in-class camera, at $499, I still can’t think of a phone I’d rather own for that amount of cash. In fact, I still really like the Essential Phone, even after reviewing it and hammering on a few key portions of it (camera and software performance). There really isn’t a better feeling phone in your hand than this one. So yeah, I think this is a hell of an option.

The phone has been dropped to $499 at Essential’s store, but also at Best Buy and Amazon. You can buy it on a payment plan as well.

What about those of us who already bought one?

In a somewhat surprising move, Essential is also giving out $200 discount codes to those of us who already bought the phone prior to October 22. Essential is calling this a “Friends & Family Offer.” It’s a $200 promo code that will get you their 360-degree for free, basically, or a $200 discount off the $499 phone, should you want another (like the white version) or know someone in mind that may want the phone.

To get your code, you’ll need to head over to this form and fill out the required info. Essential says to expect a code within a couple of weeks. Also, you need to fill the form out by November 15.

  • DEAL: 2-Pack of Our Favorite Accessory, AUKEY Magnetic Car Mount, on Sale for $9

DEAL: 2-Pack of Our Favorite Accessory, AUKEY Magnetic Car Mount, on Sale for $9

Should you have a device that would benefit from such an accessory, you can grab a 2-pack of magnetic car mounts from AUKEY on sale at Amazon, down from $12.99 to just $9. All you’ll need is the below listed coupon code.

Now, I must mention, you will need a certain device for this accessory to work without using the included magnetic stickers. I don’t know about you, but attaching a sticker to the back of my phone doesn’t sound very appealing. For the most part, though, it all depends on a phone’s weight and the material on the backside of the device.

Phones from Samsung, like the Galaxy S8, work great with these without needing the sticker. Other phones, like the LG V30, may weigh a bit too much for the magnet to support it. At the end of the day, if you really want to use this accessory, just utilize the included sticker to ensure it works properly.

The 2-packs come in either Black or Gray, and to get the discount, use the coupon code AUKEHDC5.

  • DEAL(?): Essential Phone Drops by $100 at Best Buy

DEAL(?): Essential Phone Drops by $100 at Best Buy

Mad at Google for the Pixel 2 XL’s display and are ready to jump fully into the other flagship phone on the market with flaws that happens to run stock Android? The Essential Phone is $100 off right now at Best Buy! I think that’s a deal. Yeah, it technically is. Does that price drop make the phone worthwhile now? Sure! Maybe. It helps.

I’d say more, but we’ve written and discussed the Essential Phone numerous times. I’m a fan of it even with its flaws, but I get why some would pass on it. Either way, our review is below, and that $100-off deal may not be good for long.

  • Moto X4 Joins Amazon Prime Exclusive List, Available for $329 (Updated)

Moto X4 Joins Amazon Prime Exclusive List, Available for $329 (Updated)

Motorola’s Moto X4, a device that jumps beyond the budget realm and into a tempting territory just before Android’s high-end market, will join Amazon’s Prime Exclusive line-up today at a ridiculously low price. For $329.99, you’ll be able to own this latest device from Moto and use it on any carrier in the US.

To recap, the Moto X4 features a 5.2-inch FHD LCD display, Snapdragon 630 processor, 32GB storage (with SD support), 3GB RAM, 3000mAh battery (with TurboPower charging), Bluetooth 5.0, fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, and dual camera setup (12MP f/2.0 + 8MP ultra-wide-angle f/2.2). It’s also Motorola’s first IP68 water and dust resistant phone if my brain is remembering correctly.

The design, while not customizable and probably shouldn’t be included in Motorola’s X line, does feature 3D contoured glass and an anodized aluminum frame. Outside of the love-it-or-hate-it camera bump on the back, the phone is quite pretty and packs a hell of a set of specs for the price.

The Moto X4 typically costs $399, so the Amazon Prime Exclusive model saves you $70. Just keep in mind that Prime Exclusive phones do show Amazon ads here and there on the lock screen of the phone as a way to help pay for that discount that Amazon is giving you.

The Prime Exclusive Moto X4 goes up for pre-order today at 10PM Pacific in both black and blue colorways. It’ll ship by October 26.

UPDATE: If you were looking for the non-Prime Exclusive Moto X4 in the US, Motorola also announced today that it’ll go up for pre-order tomorrow and arrive on October 26 at places like Best Buy, B&H, Fry’s, Jet.com, Newegg, and Motorola’s own online store. It’ll still cost $399.

  • DEAL: Google Home is $20 Off Everywhere

DEAL: Google Home is $20 Off Everywhere

Google Home is currently discounted almost everywhere by $20. This isn’t the ultimate Google Home deal by any means, but it’s still a good one. If you are all of a sudden in the market for a Google Home, now is a good time to jump on it. We’re seeing the deal at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and the Google Store. I’d assume you can find it everywhere else this device is sold, though.

I probably don’t need to remind you, but Google Home Mini is also up for pre-order at the moment. It most definitely is not discounted, but is only $49 and could be an even better way to get started with your smart home setup.
