  • Extended Batteries for All Verizon 4G LTE Phones are 50% Off

After reading our reports over the last couple of weeks which suggested that the Galaxy Nexus extended battery was half off, one of our readers called into Verizon to see what the deal was since they were so hard to find online and in stores. The rep informed him that in fact, all extended batteries for 4G LTE smartphones were 50%, not just for the Nexus. After taking quick lap around their online store, he is right. The Bionic, Stratosphere, and even Thunderbolt are all having battery sales. I looked for the Rezound, but it appears to be sold out.

    Cheers Chris!

  • HTC Rezound Drops to $199 at Verizon Just Two Months After Release

    image

We can’t say that we are surprised by this move, but the HTC Rezound has already dropped to just $199 on 2-year contract at Verizon. Introduced only 2 months ago as one of the top 4G LTE phones built to date, this phone was stuck with the difficult task of competing with the DROID RAZR and Galaxy Nexus out of the gate. Originally priced at $299, this is a pretty major price drop.

If you had been eyeing the Rezound, especially after HTC released a bootloader unlocking solution for it, nite would be a great time to jump on it.

  • Verizon Still Offering Half Off Galaxy Nexus Extended Battery Deal, If You Can Find Them

One of our readers popped into a Verizon store this afternoon and was able to grab 2100mAh extended Galaxy Nexus battery for the discounted $24.99 price that many of you took advantage of a couple of weeks ago. According to his receipt, it looks like the store did not actually have them in stock, but was able to order them from a VZW warehouse, hence the “FEDEX 2DAY” line on there.

These puppies are almost impossible to find an any online retailer, so if you did not have a chance to grab one before the holidays, you may want to call or swing into a store and see if they can order you one from the warehouse. At 50% off, this is a deal you do not want to pass on.

    Cheers Evan!

  • Stuck with a Tiered Data Plan on Verizon? This Trick May Get You Unlimited Data (Updated)

Verizon’s tiered data was born in the middle of this last summer, leaving new customers and new lines without the unlimited wonders that many of us long-time customers continue to enjoy. There may be a workaround to get you upgraded though. We had heard about this from a source a couple of months back for 4G customers stuck on tiers, but truthfully, ignored it because it seemed like a temporary bug that was on the verge of being fixed. According to Slickdeals, the bug still remains and those of you stuck on tiered data can upgrade today to unlimited using a little trickery. Assuming Verizon hasn’t already caught on and fixed the situation that is, which they may already have.

Update:  The Consumerist is reporting that VZW’s audit team is calling customers who took advantage of this loop hole to let them know that their accounts have been reverted back to tiered data. Bleh.  (more…)

  • Verizon Holding $50 Off 4G LTE Tablet Sale Until December 31

If an on-contract 4G LTE tablet is in your future, purchasing one within the next couple of days will save you $50 through Verizon. All of the new DROID XYBOARD tablets along with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 series can be had at a discounted price through tomorrow 12/31. And I specifically said “on-contract” because that’s the only department you will see the discount in – nothing droppin’ from the full retail unfortunately.

  • Standard Galaxy Nexus Battery is Half Off From Verizon, Now Just $19.99

Galaxy Nexus accessories are hard to come by these days and are mostly sold out at VZW stores and online. One that is still available though, and at a decent price is the standard battery. Normally $40, you can grab it from Verizon today for just $19.99. With LTE continuing to be a battery hungry animal, you can never go wrong with having a couple of spare batteries sitting around. I will say that the stand alone battery charger that I picked up on launch day is one of my best purchases of the last few months. It’s too bad that it is sold out as well.

  • Want to Upgrade to 50GB of Box Storage for Free and Without Rooting? Try This Sneaky App

Box and it’s cloud storage service is apparently running some sort of free 50GB upgrade for owners of the Sony Xperia Play and various LG phones through the end of the year (yep, just 3 days left). Why we aren’t see it for every Android phone is beyond me, but Sony and LG likely struck some sort of deal to make their devices look more appealing. If you don’t own either though, you can get the 50GB thanks to a handy little app created by developer redphx. Previous attempts to get devices the free space were limited to rooted phones and forced you to edit your build.prop, but this new app allows you to get it by simply signing into your Box account.

*Note – One of the permissions does include Internet Access which may scare some of you since you are using your account login to get the deal. The developer assures us that “no email or password is stored,” but how can you really tell? Proceed with caution. I can say that my account does indeed have 50GB of storage now after using this app though.

*Note 2 – As reader ksat has mentioned, a simple password change in your Box.net account should ease your concerns after using this app.
