    There used to be this running joke around when it came to Beautiful Widgets, that I’m sure some of you long-time readers will probably remember.  Back when this site and Android for the most part, were just starting to explode, we used to get comments on every post asking, “What’s that clock widget!”  We ended up writing a post about it so that it could be referenced by readers and us every time someone asked.  Boy have we come a long way since then.

    Anyways, we thought we should point out that this iconic Android application is free for the time being from GetJar.  Normally priced at around $2.99, this app gives you plenty of options to spice up your phone from time to time.

  • Madden 2012 on Android is FREE this Weekend from Verizon

    Madden 2012 on Android will normally run you about $7.50, but from October 1-3 (this weekend), Verizon customers can download it for free by simply calling **MADDEN (**623336).  It may not help the fact that 1,200 of us got whacked from the Droid Life Eliminator in weeks 1-3 of this NFL season, but it at least gives us another way to enjoy some football for free.  That’s right, there are only 396 people out of 1,500 that still have a chance to win after just 3 weeks.  Fun times.

    CircleLauncher, which is still one of our favorite apps of all time, is today’s free app on the Amazon Appstore.  Normally just $1, this won’t break your bank on regular days, but why not nab it for $0?

    *Tip – You may have noticed that many of my home screen shots look really minimal and bare, yet there are some secrets to them.  I place CircleLauncher on the bottom right corner of my main screen, but use an invisible icon so that it’s not messing up my pretty look.  Here is a link to the invisible icon.

    *Note – Clearly I don’t spend enough time in the settings. There is a way to hide the icon there without having to use an invisible icon. Under “Extra Configuration”, slide the Widget Icon size all the down to 0.

    Amazon kicked off a new promotion last night that gives you the opportunity to add $2 to your account to spend on apps for simply tweeting about their Appstore.  All you have to do is head to this site and click on the yellow “Tweet and get $2” button.  Afterwards, when you find an app that you may want to buy, feel free to click on the “Redeem a gift card or promotion code & view balance” link below the “Buy now” button to see your app account balance of $2.  Then go ahead and buy it.

  • RadioShack and Verizon Making Sweet Music Together on September 15, Cutting $100 Off of Select Smartphones

    It has been almost two months since we heard about RadioShack’s new partnership with Verizon, a deal that is set to go live tomorrow.  When stores open, customers can expect to save $100 on almost any Android smartphone that they may have been eyeing from afar – including the newly released DROID Bionic.  The deal runs from tomorrow (9/15) through October 15.  There are accessory bundles to be had as well, along with a $50 discount on that other phone made by Apple.

    Not a bad way to kick off the partnership.
