  • Best Buy’s “Free Phone Wednesday” Kicks Off Tomorrow: Atrix, Nexus S 4G and Fascinate Available at No Cost

When we received a tip earlier in the week that Best Buy was planning something major for August 17 and 22, we were hoping for the world, but were pretty sure they were going to be running free phone promos instead.  Free phones were confirmed today through a small press release.  So for one day only (tomorrow), you can cruise into a Best Buy and pick up an Atrix 4G, Nexus S 4G or Samsung Fascinate for free with a new 2-year contract.  And yes, I said Fascinate – the same phone that Verizon no longer carries.

Hopefully they pick a better Verizon option on the 22nd.

    Cheers ___!

  • Best Buy Announces 20% Off Purchase Of Beats Headphones, When Buying An HTC Phone

HTC just ended their highly hyped teleconference. They have officially announced their partnership with Beats By Dre, and now own 51% of the brand. It was not completely clear last night whether they would be offering free Beats when buying an HTC phone, or what exactly the deal meant for consumers. As of today, we now know that the deal will bring Beats audio processors into HTC handsets, and will be completely integrated. Sorry for everyone hoping to snag a free set of Beats.  (more…)

  • Brand New Motorola XOOM Wi-Fis On eBay For Just $440

Every time we post about a deal about the Motorola XOOM, there is always a friendly group of people saying that whatever the asking price is set at, it’s still too high. We see where you’re coming from, so how does this new price sound? Only $440 for a brand new, in box wi-fi only XOOM. Seems like robbery in my book, but we could just be biased since we see the 20 pound Honeycomb rocking beast as sort of an icon. Anyone gonna pick one up?

    Cheers TheAndroid1, James!

  • All Versions of the Samsung Nexus S are Free Tomorrow Through Best Buy

If you can’t handle the skins that phone manufacturers continue to put on top of Android and need something 100% stock and clean, then you may want to head into a Best Buy tomorrow and pick up a Samsung Nexus S.  All variants (3G version on T-Mobile or AT&T / 4G version on Sprint) will be free when you sign up for a new contract by either setting up a new line or upgrading a current handset.

While this device may not have dual-core this and that, it’s still one of the fastest and most stable devices you’ll ever use.  As a “Nexus” device, you won’t find another handset in the world with this pure of an Android experience.  When I first picked up a Nexus S back in April, I couldn’t even explain to anyone how refreshing it was to have a device that was left completely untouched.

    Anyone tempted?   (more…)

  • Logitech Revue Drops to $99, Anyone Ready to Try Out Google TV?

If Google TV was something that looked interesting to you back in 2010, but the price and lack of an app market turned you off, then maybe now you’ll want to reconsider.  The Logitech Revue has been dropped to just $99 from $249, making this one heck of a steal.  The original price back at launch was $299, so you are essentially getting a GTV box for a third of its original price not even a year after it became available.

I will mention that I’ve had the Sony version with a Blu-ray player since the day it launched and can’t say that I use it much anymore.  Sure, it’s convenient if I need to look something up on Google quickly and my phone isn’t handy, but for the most part, the experience is not as polished as you would expect it to be.  It definitely has uses, just not as many as we’d have all hoped for from the beginning.

With that said though, the re-launch of Google TV, based off of Honeycomb, should be here in the next month or so.  Once that happens, the platform will essentially be brought back from the dead with the Android Market, apps and a whole new UI.  From some of the leaks that have popped up around the internet, along with some of the stuff we saw at Google I/O, I’ll even admit that I’m excited to see where the future of it is headed.

    Buy.

Cheers Dustin, Brett and everyone else!

  • Verizon Begins New Tablet Promo for August, Buy a Smartphone and Receive $50 Off a Tablet (Updated)

Since it’s looking like Verizon may not have a big device launch in August thanks to another delay on the DROID Bionic, they appear to be tossing out promos left and right to try and make up for it.  We wrote up their new wireless charging accessory promo earlier this morning, but have another one that might grab the attention of those of you in the tablet buying market.

For the month of August, Verizon will give you a $50 discount on any tablet (except the iPad 1 or WiFi Galaxy Tab 10.1) as long as you buy a new phone and sign a new 2-year contract.  It’s not 100% clear if you can only use that $50 discount on a contracted tablet or if you can use it to buy one outright at full retail, but our sources are telling us that it may be for 2-year tablet contracts only.   (more…)

  • Verizon Deal: Buy a Wireless Charging Pad, Receive Battery Cover for Free

Either Verizon hasn’t sold many of these inductive (wireless) battery charging pads and covers or they are finally ready to force you into learning about this new technology.  Through August’s “Accessory of the Month” deal, you can buy the wireless charging pad ($69.99) that they have on hand and receive the wireless battery cover for a select few devices for free – all normally priced from $29.99 – $39.99.

What is wireless charging?  Well, if you have a pad and battery cover, you can easily charge your device without having to actually plug in your device.  Sure, the charging pad will always have to be plugged into a wall, but I’ll even admit that it is pretty handy to come home and simply set my Thunderbolt down on my desk to get it to charge rather than fuss with a microUSB cable.

So if you have a DROID3, HTC Thunderbolt, LG Revolution, DROID Charge, or Incredible 2, you may want to look into the future of charging and grab one of these pads along with a matching inductive battery cover.     (more…)

  • LetsTalk Offering Up the DROID3 for Free this Weekend to New Customers

If you are looking to get yourself into Verizon’s hottest phone at the moment, the DROID3, you may want to check out the deal from LetsTalk that is going on this weekend.  The device can be had for as little as nothing if you purchase it as a new customer.  Not a bad deal for one of our favorite phones of the year from Big Red.  Our review can be seen here.

    Buy.

Don’t forget though, that the D3 is still a part of Verizon’s BOGO (buy one get one free) back to school offer.  You may have to shell out $200, but you’ll also get a second device for free.

    Cheers rocktoonz!
