  • Buy an LG Revolution, Receive 3 Free Months of Netflix (Updated: Commercial Added)

If you were looking for a reason to buy the LG Revolution, then maybe this newly announced Netflix promo will help.  Starting today and ending on August 28, Verizon and Netflix have partnered up to give each newly purchased Revolution a 3-month free subscription to their streaming service.  Current Netflix customers are also eligible for this promo.

Beginning 7/22/2011 through 8/28/2011, customers who purchase the LG Revolution on a new two year contract will receive three free months of Netflix streaming service valued at $7.99/month.

Not a bad deal, but I’m still not sure this is enough to make me lock into a 2-year contract for this phone when we know that the DROID Bionic is seemingly 2 weeks away.

And we had to laugh at breakdown they provided of how many movies per month you can watch on their tiered data plans. We’re assuming that those numbers would mean how many movies you could watch if you didn’t use data on any other service like Gmail or internet.  Damn tiers.  Sort of sad that the day we get super fast internet with big screens and services that allow us to utilize them properly, is the same day that we get shot down into tiers so that we can no longer fully take advantage of them without breaking the bank.   (more…)

  • Staples Offers $100 Off Coupon for Any Tablet Purchase

Anyone who hasn’t purchased one of this year’s first crop of tablets, still interested?  Staples just so happens to have a pretty decent selection and is now offering a $100 discount on “any tablet” that they carry.  After quickly cruising through their site, I noticed that they have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi, Toshiba Thrive, Asus Transformer, and Acer Iconia that are powered by Android.  Stores could be different, so you may want to call ahead and see which tablets they actually carry.  Not bad though – any tablet in the building for under $400?

*Valid in store only, if that wasn’t already clear.

  • Verizon Already Drops LG Revolution Price, Is Now the Cheapest 4G LTE Phone at Just $199

    Not. Surprised. By. This.

The LG Revolution wasn’t completely doomed from the beginning, but it sure as hell had a tough uphill climb out the gate.  It was the 3rd of Verizon’s 4G LTE devices which just so happened to hit stores after two marketing monsters were launched:  the HTC Thunderbolt and the DROID Charge.  It was stuck with Bing…yeah.  The specs surely aren’t mind-blowing (single-core), the screen is average, it’s custom UI is not good, and we have absolutely no idea if it will ever see Android 2.3 (just ask G2x owners how they feel about LG).  And it also launched as the closest 4G device to the DROID Bionic which many, MANY, have been holding out for.  Some times you need fillers – this was definitely a filler.

  • DROID3 and DROIDX2 Hit Verizon’s New “Back to School” Buy One Get One Free Promo

If you have grown sick of waiting for the DROID Bionic and aren’t interested in the single-core 4G LTE offerings that Verizon has made available all year, then we thought we should point you in the direction of their 3G dual-core options that just joined a pretty hot promo.  Big Red started their “Back to School” sale this morning which is highlighted by BOGO (buy one get one free) offers for both the DROID3 and the DROIDX2.  That’s right, the phone (D3) that is technically just 4 days old, can be purchased in pairs for just $199.  You can see our first look and impressions of the device here.

  • EasyTether Pro Price Cut in Half Through Amazon, A Tethering Option for Non-rooted Users

EasyTether Pro is on sale today through the Amazon Appstore for $4.99 which is half of its normal $9.99 price.  For those of you that choose not to root your devices, but still want a way to utilize the data of your smartphone through your PC, you may want to jump on this deal.  At just $5, you won’t find many tethering options that appear to be as solid and easy to set up as this one.

Oh, and I just got done testing it on my Thunderbolt – it worked flawlessly.

  • Woot Offers REFURBISHED Motorola XOOMs For Only $400

If you’re in the market for a refurbished Moto XOOM, then head on over to Woot, where today they have a pretty good deal on everyone’s favorite Android tablet. Our only beef with the deal is that you can just go buy a brand new one for only $100 more, and maybe even less with all the coupons and online discounts that Motorola has.

Is this price a bit better for everyone, or is this still too much?

Cheers everyone who sent this in!

  • Google Shopper Updated to Version 2.0, Now Includes Google Offers Deals

I’m not exactly sure how popular of an app Google Shopper is, but Google is certainly doing its best to make sure you at least give it a quick glance to see if it can help save you money.  The app received a pretty polished update today which includes its Google Offers program (for select cities, plus NYC as of today), “nearby” deals, and a list of the deals that you have saved for later.  I would assume that this will probably work best for folks in major cities, but hey, why not give it a shot to see it can help save you some hard-earned cash?

  • Gameloft Offers Up Six $0.99 HD Titles for a Limited Time, Includes N.O.V.A. 2

Gameloft announced a semi-new promotion last night for the U.S. that includes 6 of their HD titles for just $0.99.  They haven’t exactly said how long this will run, so we’ll simply suggest that all of the gamers in the building hit up the link below to see which games are popping up as compatible for their devices.  On my Thunderbolt I’m seeing N.O.V.A. 2, Dungeon Hunter 2, and Asphalt 6, but most of us know by now that not all Gameloft games are available to all phones – so you could see something different.
