  • DROID3 Available for $149 if You Add a New Line

If you haven’t already purchased a DROID3 and don’t mind having to deal with the tiered data plan that you’ll be locked into by adding a new line for one, then you may want to jump on this deal.  Verizon is currently running a promo for new lines that will get you into this phone for $149 which is $50 cheaper than the normal 2-year contract price.  Not a bad deal at all for a phone with a 1GHz dual-core OMAP processor, front and rear cameras, and a shiny new 5-row keyboard.

  • Toshiba Thrive 16GB and 8GB Units Already Available at Newegg?

As far as we knew, you were only able to pre-order the Toshiba Thrive from retailers, but somehow Newegg managed to get a few and put them up for sale early.  They currently have the 16GB model available for $479 and the 8GB model available for $429 – as far as I can tell, they will actually let you purchase both and have them within a couple of days thanks to free shipping.

  • Motorola XOOM WiFi Prices Slashed Everywhere, Time to Expect Something New?

It’s been a rocky road for the Motorola XOOM, the world’s first ever Honeycomb tablet.  A device that was the talk of the tech world back in January has almost been forgotten about as rumored sales numbers have not even come close to expectations.  With customers knowing that newer, thinner, and generally better tablets were just around the corner at cheaper prices, the XOOM almost didn’t stand a chance.  And well, we’re seeing that this week as prices on the WiFi model have dropped $100 (to $499) across the country to make it more competitive with the Galaxy Tab 10.1s and Transformers of the world.

We’ve linked to a couple of deals below, one of which has the XOOM for $449:

Amazon | Staples (coupon code: 51758 for additional $50 off) | Motorola Store

So what’s next in the tablet world from Motorola?  First off, they need to fix the 4G LTE situation with the Verizon XOOM.  Then, they’ll likely release a newish version of the that same Verizon XOOM, but with a 4G LTE radio already built in.  We’re doubting it’ll look all that different or have a bump in specs, so what we all care about is really what’s beyond that.

Does Moto have something up their sleeves for the second half of 2011?  We’ve seen Sanjay Jha hint at 7″ tablets time and time again, plus there is a chance that Kal-el quad-core tablets could be seen before the end of the year.  We’ve even heard the codename “Ghost” mentioned, but are unsure of the reliability of that tip.

No matter what though, Motorola needs to come back with something strong or 2011 might end up being the year of disappointments for a company that seemed to be doing all of the right things less than a year and a half ago.  With devices still hitting consumers hands with locked bootloaders, they not only have investors to appease, but they also are starting to lose touch with those that actually purchase their products.

And enough rambling, go grab that Staples deal before it’s gone!

Cheers for the coupon code Max!

  • Walmart Lowers Price Of XOOM WiFi To Just $499

Looks like Walmart is ready to clean their shelves, and are making way for newer products by lowering the price of the Motorola XOOM WiFi. It’s possible that these devices could see lower prices in the future (original Samsung Galaxy Tab, anyone?), but not by too much. If you’ve been looking to score one, now would be the time. We know that some of you aren’t the biggest fans of the XOOM, but it is still technically the Honeycomb “developer device” and has a pretty large community behind it.

  • Best Buy Sort of Offers Up HTC Flyer with Free $80 Stylus Pen

There were a lot of confused souls when the HTC Flyer was announced for the U.S. without a stylus digital pen.  The Scribe technology that came built in was one of the major selling points for this 7″ tablet, so to ask customers to purchase the pen to take advantage of it separately was a little odd.  Well as of today, Best Buy is looking to push some additional units by offering up the device with a pen included at no additional charge.  That’s right – the $80 pen will now be included with your Flyer for free…sort of.

The package you are seeing above has popped up on BBY’s site, only it may have been activated a little too early.  You see, I was able to add it to my cart early, but the actual page for the Flyer + Pen seems to have disappeared.  Feel free to try the “Buy” link below though – this is a pretty good deal.

  • Verizon About to Offer HTC Thunderbolt for FREE in New Promo?

If you’ve been following us on Twitter or saw this new DROID3 360 degree post today, then you know we’ve been poking around on Verizon’s website, discovering goodies.  This next one though, could be something pretty big if it actual happens in the next week or so.  How does an HTC Thunderbolt for free sound?

Verizon’s website is about to undergo a series of changes and part of the kick to those changes might mean a new set of deals which could include the Thunderbolt for free and others like the *cough* i*hone 4 for $150.  There is no telling when this could go off, but with the current $50 gift card promo for the Tbolt ending on July 4, we’re thinking it could happen shortly after.   (more…)

  • Both Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Nook Make Today’s eBay Tablet Deals

Yesterday, eBay tossed out the Motorola XOOM WiFi 32GB for $499 and are back again with two additional Android tablets on the cheap.  You can pick up the brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for as little as $444.99 or the Nook Color (which has a ridiculously large dev community) for $189.99.

I know that many of you are having trouble deciding if you should buy a tablet now or wait for the next batch of quad-cores, but there are some pretty solid deals out there to be had.  The good news is that in the next few months, we’ll probably see the current crop of Tegra 2 devices drop substantially in price while the new big dogs are introduced.

    Cheers George!

  • Motorola XOOM WiFi is Back at eBay for $499

If you missed out on eBay’s Motorola XOOM WiFi deal from the beginning of the month, you are in luck as it’s available again for just $499.  Not a bad deal for the first ever Honeycomb device that also packs 32GB of storage – $100 cheaper than the same version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.  Plus, it’s like getting an extra set of curls in every time you pick it up!

    Cheers Davies and Matt!
