The precocity of AT&T’s 4G LTE network is impressive. Once paling in comparison to Verizon’s coverage, Ma Bell’s strategy of rapid deployment has helped its high-speed network blanket the US at a breakneck pace. Case in point: the carrier announced today that, with an expansion of LTE into 26 additional markets, its 4G now reaches more than 270 million people. That’s good news for AT&T, which intends to spend more than $14 billion in an effort to expand 4G LTE to 300 million (T-Mobile?) customers by the end of 2014. I’d say the company is well on its way. Chevrolet Announces AT&T LTE Equipped Cars Coming Later This Year
Earlier this morning we heard that Android would soon be invading the dashboard of cars in the upcoming years. But what is a smart dashboard if you don’t have the internet to back it up? Today, Chevy and AT&T have announced that a few of their 2015 car models will feature full LTE capability for all your data needs. (more…)

Umm, Best Buy, the Moto G for Verizon Doesn’t Have 4G LTE
According to Best Buy’s listing for the Moto G on Verizon, the phone magically grew a 4G LTE radio over night. In other words, their listing is wrong. The Moto G (unless Best Buy is selling a version that even Motorola doesn’t know about) does not have the ability to connect to an LTE network. No sir, not the GSM version or this CDMA variant that works on Verizon’s 3G network. Again, it almost certainly lacks the radio, probably as a cost cutting measure to keep the phone at its insanely low $179 and $99 price points. (more…)

T-Mobile CEO Wants to Un-Shackle Families From “Those Other Guys,” Get LOUD with 4G LTE
I think we now know for sure what T-Mobile is about to announce next week at CES through their UnCarrier part 4 event. In a Tweet sent out this morning through the official T-Mobile account, an image lists out the company’s 2013 and 2014 resolutions, thanks to it being a new year and all. The 2013 list runs through all of the items they introduced through previous UnCarrier events. The 2014 list includes a bunch of items they will likely try and check off over the coming months. AT&T Flips on 4G LTE in 12 Additional Markets
Thank goodness for competition, right? In a continuing effort to match or best other mobile carriers’ 4G LTE coverage, AT&T has aggressively expanded its coverage in rural portions of the United States. Today’s 12 added locations will bring AT&T’s total market reach to a little over 400 (488 to be exact), which is certainly more than T-Mobile’s (around 230 as of October) and Sprint’s (233), but
a far cry fromstill behind Verizon’s 500+. But it’s OK, AT&T, slow and steady wins the race, right? (more…) -

AT&T and UK Carrier EE Sign 4G LTE Roaming Deal for Visitors
AT&T has been making a lot of moves lately, signing contracts with International carriers to help benefit customers who are traveling abroad. It was first announced in early December that AT&T customers traveling to Canada would be able to connect to 4G LTE networks through Rogers, and now a new deal has been struck with EE over in the U.K. for anyone who plans to visit England. Usually, when people travel abroad, we get kicked down to 3G and HSPA+ networks, so 4G LTE roaming is a major step in the right direction for people who rely on fast data speeds on their mobile devices. AT&T Offers 4G LTE Roaming to Customers Traveling in Canada, First Carrier to Offer International LTE Roaming
AT&T announced big news this morning, partnering with Rogers Communications to offer U.S. customers the ability to connect to 4G LTE networks while roaming in our neighbor to the north, Canada. The deal actually makes AT&T the first U.S. carrier to offer such a deal, as usually customers are kicked down to HSPA+ networks or 3G.
With a Data Global Add-on package purchased, customers can get 4G LTE in bundles of 120MB for $30/mo, 300MB for $60/mo, and 800MB for $120/mo. It seems pricey, but can you really put a price on international LTE speeds? /sarcasm (more…)
