AT&T announced the availability of 4G LTE in six new markets this morning, spanning from parts of Minnesota on south to Ohio. It is nowhere near the biggest push we have seen, but AT&T is currently filling in some weak points in their coverage, with more launches expected to happen sometime in the future. How Awesome is It That the New Nexus 7 LTE Works on Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T?
I’d hate to call it shocking, but one of the most interesting announcements out of yesterday’s Google event was the fact that the new Nexus 7 LTE model works on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile LTE networks, all from a single device. In the past, we have seen tablet manufacturers produce separate models when they tweak them to work on specific carrier network frequencies, but not with this one. Google has done something awesome. Along with the announcement, AT&T also wanted to remind us that not only do they have America’s fastest LTE network, but it is now also the most reliable according to third party data. On Monday, that claim was taken quite seriously by Verizon, prompting them to take out a full page ad in the WSJ setting the record straight on the standards of reliability. (more…)
