  • Verizon Stores Receive Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Makeover Without a Release Date

We definitely know that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE is on the way since Verizon announced it all the way back at the beginning of June, but we still have no idea when it’ll arrive in stores.  There was a missed pre-order period, followed by a second unannounced one that left customers with an estimated 4-6 weeks shipping date as sort of gauge for a release date.  Well folks, it looks like we might be looking at this Thursday.

Verizon stores across the nation are starting to receive the giant Galaxy Tab 10.1 posters that you are seeing above, to put up in preparation for its release.  It would seem a little odd for Big Red to go through all of this preparation without having something on the horizon.  Would they really allow a blank display like this to sit in the middle of almost all of their stores without expecting the device to arrive in just a couple of days?  I would certainly hope not.

    Cheers Spaniard!

  • Verizon Introducing 4G LTE microSIM Cards With Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, We Have All the Details Here

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will launch on Verizon in the coming weeks as the first of their 4G LTE devices to use microSIM (3FF) cards.  As far as VZW is concerned, there are no differences between regular (2FF) and microSIM cards aside from the size that they will take up in a device.  So as we start to see ultra-thin or small devices like the Gtab 10.1, we’ll continue to see microSIMs used throughout 2011 which has been dubbed a “transition period.”  Starting at the beginning of 2012 though, every new 4G LTE on Big Red’s network will rock out with one of the little guys.

And to those of us with a Thunderbolt, Charge or Revolution – we’ll be stuck with the regular (2FF) cards forever, which isn’t a big deal.  Just know that while a microSIM may fit in your Tbolt, it won’t function at all.  So don’t let anyone try to insert one into your device.

Oh, and we should probably point out that the i*hone 4 uses microSIM already…

(No, that doesn’t mean it can have 4G with a VZW microSIM.)

    Cheers ___!

  • The Most Creative DROID Bionic Forum Post Ever, And We Want Your Thoughts On It

This is one of those posts that we aren’t putting a whole lot of weight behind, but thought it was 100% worth sharing simply for the fact that it is guaranteed to bring you a solid 15 minutes or more of entertainment.  What we have below, is a forum member posing as the final (revision 3?) build of the DROID Bionic that will enter stores in the near future and possibly blow your mind.  It’s so detailed and so creative that it can’t possibly be true, right?  I’ll let you guys decide.   (more…)

  • Verizon Already Drops LG Revolution Price, Is Now the Cheapest 4G LTE Phone at Just $199

    Not. Surprised. By. This.

The LG Revolution wasn’t completely doomed from the beginning, but it sure as hell had a tough uphill climb out the gate.  It was the 3rd of Verizon’s 4G LTE devices which just so happened to hit stores after two marketing monsters were launched:  the HTC Thunderbolt and the DROID Charge.  It was stuck with Bing…yeah.  The specs surely aren’t mind-blowing (single-core), the screen is average, it’s custom UI is not good, and we have absolutely no idea if it will ever see Android 2.3 (just ask G2x owners how they feel about LG).  And it also launched as the closest 4G device to the DROID Bionic which many, MANY, have been holding out for.  Some times you need fillers – this was definitely a filler.

    Buy.

    Cheers @derichio02!

  • Verizon’s 4G LTE Network Will Span More Than 100 Cities On Thursday

Seems like only a few months ago, the 4G LTE service provided by Verizon was in it’s baby stages. On Thursday, Verizon will announce 28 new markets to add to it’s already impressive list, making the total number of LTE markets in America over 100. As we saw this morning, some of the cities expected to get 4G this Thursday, are already being lit up.

At this rate, we see no stopping Verizon in their quest to have nothing but 4G service by 2013. Hope everyone plans on upgrading their phones next year to a device that can handle LTE. Bionics for everyone? And everyone who has 4G already, do you find yourself loving it as much as you thought you would? Do you surf the web more frequently knowing you can load things faster? Overall, are you consuming more data now that you have 4G? (more…)

  • Walmart and Sam’s Club Still Think the DROID Bionic Will Be Here August 4

This screenshot isn’t new by any means – in fact, we saw it back on July 5.  But we wanted to show it again though, because it’s been floating around both Walmart and Sam’s Club stores for a full 2 weeks now which could be a sign that the DROID Bionic actually is targeted for an August 4 release.

These two stores have been fairly spot on in the past when they have produced early release dates, so we’ll try our hardest to semi-ignore the fact that someone told us over the weekend that this date is about a month off.  We’ve heard all along that it would be here in the summer, and this date certainly fits that time frame.  Let’s just say that I’ll be pretty surprised if it indeed does launch on August 4 – both gut and chatter behind the scenes are telling another story.  Would definitely love to be wrong on this one though.

    We’ll be digging for more…

  • Verizon Turning on 4G LTE in New Cities Well Before July 21

The new batch of cities that were expected to receive 4G LTE coverage by July 21 are already starting to see some love.  Just this morning we’re hearing that Knoxville, Chattanooga, Charleston, and Raleigh are all live along with a variety of other locations that have been enjoying it for weeks – one being my home town of Portland.  We’ve seen Verizon do this in the past as cities become ready, so if you are in one of the new locations, be sure to toggle that 4G switch on your Thunderbolt, Charge or Revolution and let us know what you are seeing.

Cheers Jeff, Kristopher, Stu, Preston and Brian!

  • Samsung 4G LTE Slider Makes a New Appearance, We’re Doubting This is Verizon’s Version of the Galaxy S II

“Please, oh please don’t let it happen,” is all I can seem to tell myself after seeing the latest photos of a Samsung slider that appears to be headed for Verizon’s 4G LTE network.  And what I mean by that is, please do not let this be VZW’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S II.  I understand that there will always be a place for phones with a full keyboard, just don’t let it be what we currently have as our top phone of all time.

Actually, we’re pretty sure (at least assuming) this device won’t be anywhere near the specs of a Galaxy S II and will likely be more of a keyboarded Fascinate (or like the Epic 4G) than anything.  So far Verizon has only released 4G LTE phones that were essentially built with last year’s tech, so it makes sense to assume that this one will also fall into that category.  All signs on our end are pointing towards the DROID Bionic being their first real LTE beast (dual-core, 1GB of RAM, etc.) that will be backed by a massive marketing campaign.  My guess, is that this phone will be their late July or early August 4G LTE filler while they prepare the world for the release of the Bionic (which may not drop until 9/1).

Oh, you can tell that this phone is running an old version of TouchWiz and not the one seen on the SGS2.  That Messaging icon and the shaded home dock are dead giveaways.  This specific phone also happens to be sporting a 5MP rear camera (SGS2 has 8MP) and a 1.3MP front cam (2MP on the SGS2).  So yeah, this isn’t looking at all like some mysterious dual-core slider beast from Samsung, but instead, just another rehash from 2010.

This device first popped up a couple of weeks ago and is now clearly in the hands of testers – we could be seeing it very soon.

Anyone interested in a 4G LTE slider?
