  • Exclusive: New Verizon LG Revolution First Pics

We dropped the first report earlier on the LG Revolution launching May 26 as a newly blackened, Bing’d out 4G LTE device on Verizon and are back with the first real pics of it.  The lock screen which as we mentioned is a straight MIUI kang is on display here along with that smooth new black cover.  I’m now torn on whether or not I prefer this to the silver back we saw back at CES, but either way will be hard pressed to want it knowing that it’s not a “with Google” device.  Here’s to hoping that it lacks a locked bootloader and can be rooted in no time so that we can all take full advantage of its above-average internals.

Oh and the packaging will look identical to that of the HTC Thunderbolt:

  • Samsung DROID Charge Review – Verizon

Ahhh yes, the first ever 4G LTE “DROID” has landed.  After a couple of weeks of delays to make sure Verizon’s new network was stable enough for it, the DROID Charge by Samsung is available for purchase at the arguably high price of $300 on a 2-year contract.  It’s a device we saw go nameless for months, but one that eventually found its way into our favorite brand of smartphones.  Can it live up to that exclusive name though?  Normally when a new phone comes out with the “DROID” brand on it, we expect it to dominate, so let’s see if the Charge can.   (more…)

  • Confirmed: LG Revolution Launching May 26 on Verizon With Netflix, New Black Look and Bing

The LG Revolution will launch of May 26 alongside the DROIDX2 and Xperia Play, making next Thursday a beast of a day.  This will be the third of Verizon’s four 4G LTE devices that were shown off at CES to hit the market, and as you can see from the picture above has gone through some changes since we last saw it.  Instead of going with the silver backing we’ve grown accustomed to, LG and Big Red decided that all black would be much sexier – I have to agree.

So what else can we expect from the LG Revolution?  Well, it’s the first 4G LTE device to be flooded with Bing instead of Google Search which I know isn’t going to make many of you happy.  It will launch with Netflix though, so at least you’ll have 4.3 inches of goodness to take in all of your favorite movies and shows.

It will also launch with Android 2.2, LG “User Interface”, a 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, HDMI-out, a 16GB pre-installed SD card, and will likely be one of the first to take advantage of Qi wireless charging.  The rest of the specs can be seen after the break.   (more…)

  • Verizon Starts Name Dropping New 4G LTE Cities that Go Live on May 19

Verizon is taking to Twitter today to announce the next batch of 4G LTE cities, that they teased us with on Friday.  So far we have at least 6 new cities and some expanded coverage in Philadelphia.  The activation of service is not supposed to go live until this Thursday, May 19, but we wouldn’t be surprised if these cities are turned on within the next 24 hours.

    • Philadelphia, PA (expanded coverage)
    • Gainsville, FL
    • Pensacola, FL
    • Tallahassee, FL
    • Mobile, AL
    • Montgomery, AL
    • Fayetteville-Lumberton, NC

    Anyone enjoying new 4G yet?

    Cheers Gorgio!

  • Verizon Readies Another Batch of New 4G LTE Cities

Verizon just sent out a sneaky little tweet a few minutes ago, letting us know that we will be seeing new 4G LTE cities very “soon.”  Of course, they made no mention of what those cities are or when we will see them, but I can tell you that my Thunderbolt and Charge are both in hand here in Portland hoping for an icon change.

Back on the 19th of April, they activated an additional 6 cities on the east coast, so I’d say it’s about time we get some love over here on the west side of things.  We knew they’d be moving fast with these cities, especially with a goal of having 145 markets by the end of the year.  Let’s just hope they don’t announce another “mess” since that turned out to be less than 10.

  • Download: My Verizon App for HTC Thunderbolt, The Official One That Works

We’re not sure why Verizon hasn’t released a working version of the My Verizon app for the HTC Thunderbolt and other 4G LTE devices yet, but we thought we’d point out a link to the official one that does work so that you can all relax a little and keep track of all those geebeez.  Again, this is not a hacked version from a forum – this is the official version.  And yeah, that’s about all we really need to say about it.

Download:  MyVerizon.apk (VZW asked that we remove it.)

Uninstall the current version on your device and then install this one.  If prompted in the market to update afterwards, do not update or it’ll break it again.

Everyone be sure to thank our friend @0mie for the love!

  • T-Mobile Takes Shot at Verizon Over 4G LTE Network Down Time

Pretty funny of T-Mobile, right?  Take shots at a company who just experienced more than 24 hours of down time on their brand new 4G LTE network.  Hey, I’d do the same too if I were a competing carrier.  The only thing is, T-Mobile doesn’t even have a 4G network.  That’s right, I’m pulling out the “Fake 4G” card, because when it comes to trash talking, you have to at least have something legit behind your stance…and they don’t.  And while Verizon’s outage was one of the most preposterous things I’ve ever seen from a company this large in a long time (and we are still owed an explanation), I’m just going to shake my head at T-Mo and ask that they keep trying.  Or better yet, why don’t you go sell your soul.  Oh, that’s right, you did…to AT&T.

  • Verizon 4G LTE has been Restored Nationally

Well, here is some semi-good news this morning folks.  4G LTE is back up nationwide, although we’ve been told eHRPD is not, which means no soft hand-offs between 3G and 4G at this time.  Here is the text we received:

LTE Connectivity Restored: Network has been able to confirm that the LTE Network has been restored nationally.

Update:  Verizon has also now confirmed via Twitter.

So again, we’re getting there slowly but surely.  Everyone back up?

    Cheers Spaniard!
