  • Verizon Training Scheduled for Early November, Discussing 4G Pricing and Samsung Tab

Verizon announced their 38 4G LTE launch markets (map here) last week and have now set up a training period for their employees in preparation for go live.  In between October 20th and November 10th, employees must sign up to review Q4 initiatives, 4G pricing, 4G launch details, and get their hands on the Galaxy Tab.  Some of the Verizon sources we spoke with were told that tiered pricing (possibly 3G) would actually be a topic, but we’re having trouble buying into that just yet since COO Lowell McAdam wasn’t ready to go that far only last week.  They do expect to get their hands on the Tab by November 3rd though, which could mean our November 1st date is out and a later launch date could be expected.

  • Official Verizon 4G LTE Launch Markets Map

    (Click map for fullversion.)

For those not wanting to sift through the long list of 4G LTE launch cities, then simply click on the map above and look for your city.  It should be noted that Detroit is missing, but Verizon clarified during today’s conference that it will be included and that they are just working out some  final bugs.  Personally I’m disappointed to see a tech savvy city like Portland missing, but at least our airport will have the coverage.

On a related note, we aren’t expecting any major 4G LTE devices to be used in these cities until 2011, but Verizon does plan to showcase a half dozen smartphones and tablets at January’s CES.  No Incredible HD this year people.

    Cheers  @DigitalDaggers!

  • Verizon: 4G Smartphones and Tablets to Debut at CES in January, Available 1st Half of 2011

Lowell McAdam, COO of Verizon, just announced that we will see 4G LTE smartphones and tablets in action this January at CES.  He mentioned that development has really taken off much faster than they had expected and will show a half dozen or so devices at the event.  You have to assume this will be the first major sighting of the Droid tablet (Stingray) which is now rumored to be LTE capable and possibly the Motorola Tegra 2 device.

In even better news, the Droid Life team will be at CES to cover all of this insanity.  This holiday season is looking to be more and more of a snoozer with January as the target of some game changers.

  • Verizon Ups 4G LTE Launch Ante, Will Hit 38 Cities by End of Year

We originally thought that Verizon would be launching 4G LTE into just 30 NFL cities to finish off 2010, but today, just minutes before their LTE conference at CTIA, they announced that the number will actually be 38 cities plus 62 airports.  The launch will start in all of the major U.S. cities you would expect such as Boston, New York, Philly, D.C., Dallas, Seattle, L.A., Chicago, and Miami, but will quickly branch out.

  • Verizon’s 4G LTE Webcast Starts in 45 Minutes, Viewing Info Here

Verizon COO Lowell McAdam will be on stage at CTIA in 45 minutes discussing  the company’s plans for 4G LTE rollout.  It is expected that 30 cities will have 4G coverage by the end of the the year, but we’re hoping to hear additional details including some device specifics.  At this time, we have zero confirmations on any 4G Android devices for Big Red and this would be a great time for them to announce one.

  • DROID Incredible Does 4G? Hidden Menu Says So

Well hello “4G Settings” menu on the Droid Incredible!  Those screenshots were nabbed from my Incredible through Google Gesture Search and clearly show a secret 4G menu that will force close on you if used.  Obviously I’m running a custom ROM, but don’t worry, this menu is available to stock non-rooted users as well.

So what does this mean?  Maybe just some built in Sense setting?  Probably.  The DI and EVO are running pretty similar versions and could be the reason it has a hidden menu like this.  Anyway, it’s interesting to say the least since we know the DI isn’t capable of running on 4G.  Gesture Search can find a bunch of hidden gems like this. Now go play with it!

    Cheers KiriusKris!
