Thanks to evleaks, we have our first look at what the Galaxy NotePro 12.2 tablet from Samsung will look like on Verizon. As we can see, there doesn’t appear to be anything too different about the device from the WiFi-only model, oh, except the massive 4G LTE logo on the backside. (more…)

Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet Receives Update – Improves LTE Connectivity, Camera, Battery Life, and More
Verizon has this self-branded tablet called the Ellipsis 7 that you probably don’t know much about. It’s a low-end tablet that they try to sell for more than you can pick up a 2013 Nexus 7 for. They also try to sell it with a 2-year contract for $150, which is quite possibly the worst deal in tech at the moment. It features a 1.2GHz unknown quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 3.2MP camera, low-resolution 7-inch display by today’s standards, Android 4.2.2, and 8GB of storage. Again, it’s not great and probably shouldn’t be in your top 100 list of potential tablets to buy. (more…)

Sprint Lights Up 40 New 4G LTE Markets, Total Rises to 340
Sprint may still be playing catch-up in the 4G LTE market game, but with today’s announcement of 40 new markets, they are starting to hit some sort of a stride. If you count today’s new additions, their total tops out at around 340. While that is still far below Verizon’s total, it feels like we are getting there. Keep in mind that Verizon lit up their 500th market back in June of 2013.
The list of markets isn’t necessarily focused on one part of the country either. You’ll see Eugene, Oregon on the list, right next to Georgetown, South Carolina. Idaho Falls is on there as well, next to Jackson, Mississippi. (more…)

LG G Pad 8.3 Equipped With 4G LTE Radios Stops by FCC en Route to Verizon
LG’s newest tablet, the G Pad 8.3, has hit the FCC this week on a course to Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The tablet made a quick stop, showing LTE radios that support bands 4 and 13 (Verizon’s bands) inside and model number VK810, while all other specs and dimensions of the tablet appear to be unchanged. The G Pad 8.3 is also available as a Google Play Edition device as WiFi-only right from Google Play for the price of $349.99. (more…)

AT&T Launches Several New 4G LTE Markets, 11 States Affected
AT&T launched a big list of new 4G LTE markets this morning, opening up about 20 new markets across the US, including Puerto Rico. San Bernardino County in So-Cal has a few new markets to show off, while Michigan also got a hearty serving of improved mobile data speeds.
AT&T is now right on Verizon’s heels in terms of the number of LTE markets available, and with all of the talks now surrounding LTE-Advanced, 2014 and 2015 should be a couple of great years for data speed. (more…)

T-Mobile: Customer Data Proves We Have the Fastest 4G LTE Network in the U.S.
During T-Mobile’s UnCarrier 4.0 event that wrapped earlier this afternoon, T-Mobile made a bold new claim: they now have the fastest 4G LTE network in the land. Don’t worry (or maybe you should) though, they didn’t use an outside firm or “highly paid industry consultants” to collect their data. No sir, they used data straight from consumers and testing through the ever-popular Ookla Speedtest app. (more…)

T-Mobile 4G LTE Expands to 14 New Markets
Not to be outdone by AT&T, T-Mobile expanded its 4G LTE network into 14 new markets today.
The move is one of many by the carrier in recent months to improve the quality of its 4G network. T-Mobile recently began using spectrum acquired from US Cellular and MetroPCS to improve LTE speeds, and plans to purchase chunks of Verizon’s 700 MHz A-Block for future expansion. The developments are a promising response to T-Mobile’s middling performance in JD Power’s August assessment of US cellular networks. (more…)
