Nexus 4 With LTE Stopped by Bluetooth SIG Yesterday? (Updated)

A week or so ago, a rumor surfaced suggesting that Google may introduce a Nexus 4 with LTE alongside the Nexus 5. As you are all well aware, the Nexus 4 originally launched last year without LTE, something many couldn’t give Google a pass for. In a day filled with nothing but LTE, the lack of it in Google’s flagship smartphone was inexcusable. But what if they were to re-introduce the phone again this year, only this time with LTE on board? According to a Bluetooth SIG filing that dropped yesterday, there may be a chance of that happening. AT&T Lights Up Four New 4G LTE Markets

AT&T announced four new 4G LTE markets this morning, including one in Hawaii. Given our unfamiliarity with these town names, we would say that AT&T is nearing completion of its LTE rollout across the US, but of course, there are always other little patches here and there that still need to be lit up. Verizon Begins Deploying AWS LTE Network, 80 Mbps Download Speeds to be had

Earlier this year, Verizon told us that they would begin to deploy their recently acquired AWS LTE spectrum before we hit 2014. That time is now, as Big Red has confirmed to a number of publications that AWS LTE (band 4) is being activated in a number of major markets, New York City being one of them. Most of Verizon’s current 4G LTE network operates in the 700MHz frequency, better known to many as band 13. As you know, their rollout of this band 13 network is largely complete, so up to 5,000 AWS sites will go live to help strengthen the network and ease-up on the capacity demand. (more…)

AT&T Expects First VoLTE Device Later This Year, Service Rollout Sometime in 2014

Speaking at a wireless infrastructure conference, AT&T’s president of Labs announced that he thinks the wireless carrier could have themselves a VoLTE compatible device by the end of this year, with VoLTE service popping up sometime in 2014. Not that its appearance will be widespread for users, but that general testing and rollout will begin around that timespan. This development is right on the heels of Verizon’s same announcement that took place back in August. (more…)

AT&T Launches Abundance of New 4G LTE Markets in North America

This chilly Wednesday morning, AT&T announced 13 brand new 4G LTE markets across America, ranging from North Carolina up to Illinois. It seems like every week for the past couple of months, the carrier launches another group of LTE markets. At this pace, I would say they are right on track to match Verizon, who sits around 500 markets, by the end of the year. From personal experience, AT&T’s LTE network still seems much faster and less bogged down than Verizon, so if you are on AT&T, this is great news.

Samsung 7″ Galaxy Tab 3 4G LTE on Sprint Arrives October 11 for $49.99

Samsung announced this morning that Sprint will carry the 7″ Galaxy Tab 3, capable of running the network’s 4G LTE starting October 11 for just $49.99 on contract. The tablet comes in two different colors, white and black, plus comes with a few notable specifications. (more…)

AT&T Launches 10 New 4G LTE Markets, Starts Hitting Rural Communities Across U.S.

AT&T is starting to make its way into the deepest parts of America, hitting towns and communities with no more than 20,000 residents, making sure everyone has access to its 4G LTE network. Not all of the towns listed below are super small, but it’s clear that AT&T has pretty much hit all of its biggest markets already, and now we will see a lot more “filling out” in terms of where it pops up. Verizon Intros 4G LTE Broadband Router With Voice, Could Replace Your Home’s Internet and Phone Service

This morning, Verizon, in partnership with Novatel Wireless, introduced the 4G LTE Broadband Router with Voice. The Broadband Router is capable of taking your wired and wireless device and connecting them to Big Red’s 4G LTE network. In addition, it will also allow for your home phone to be plugged in, basically allowing you the freedom of eliminating any current service you have with other providers. (more…)
