  • Chart: Verizon 4G LTE Android Phone Lineup

We thought a quick chart of Verizon’s 4G LTE lineup would be a nice way to display their known specs and to help fuel the arguments as to which phone tops them all.  Some of the information isn’t 100% confirmed so we’ve left it as “N/A” for now, but things like RAM are probably 512MB across the board.  Also, the Thunderbolt and Samsung device likely have anywhere from 2-8GB on-board, but we could not confirm either.

It’s a little sad to see that not one of these 4G LTE devices will come with stock Android, but those kinds of phones are 1 in 1,000 these days.  Overall though, you have to be impressed by the lineup, although it would have been nice to see the LG device sporting a dual-core since they were all giddy about their Optimus 2X.  Each devices sports a 4.3″ screen of some sort though, plus they’ll all have front-facing cameras to take us into the next fad in smartphones.  Enjoy!   (more…)

  • Video: Highlights from Verizon’s 4G LTE CES Event

If you missed any of the exciting news that came out of Verizon’s 4G LTE event yesterday at CES, then you may want to check out a new highlight video that has been released below.  It’s basically a 4 minute overview of a press event that lasted an hour and is a great way to get up to speed on all things 4G LTE.

And don’t forget to check out the first looks we had with almost all of the devices they announced:

  • Hands-on with the LG Revolution, Another Verizon 4G LTE Device

The LG Revolution is the 4th 4G LTE smartphone that will launch on Verizon some time in the first half of 2011.  The device, as all of VZW’s 4G LTE devices do, sports a 4.3″ screen, but only has a 5MP camera and possibly just a 1GHz single-core processor.  The press release can’t confirm that, but we figure if it was a Tegra 2, that they would have been raving about it.

This is the LTE device that popped up a number of times over the last 6 months, but now that it’s real, nothing was all that unexpected.  The HDMI out is always a plus and the 5MP camera appears to have some additional features, so we’ll just recommend that you play with this device yourself.  We liked it, but the Thunderbolt and BIONIC are topping our list right now.

  • Hands-on with Verizon’s Samsung 4G LTE Device (SCH-I510)

At the Verizon 4G LTE event today, the Samsung reps were a little hesitant to actually let us play with their new unnamed device, so we skipped on by it until we hit up their booth.  What did we find?  The Samsung SCH-I510, the same device they were scared to show to the press.  And yes, it still lacks an actual name.

We actually posted what we thought was one of the first pics of this device on Tuesday, so it was nice to have it confirmed today.  It’s definitely the alien-esque device with the Nexus S back hump.  It does sport a 4.3″ Super AMOLED Plus screen though and was as fast as ever with a 1GHz single-core processor.

What wasn’t impressive was the Touchwiz skin splashed all over it.  They went with that same puzzle-piece theme that screams kid’s toy and even went as far as to throw some cartoon like font on it.  This could be a great device, but man, this is the classic example of manufacturers killing devices with their custom skins.

And we have no idea when this will be released.  The on-edge reps at the VZW event seemed to think this device was far from ever seeing a store shelf.

  • HTC Thunderbolt Hands-on Video and Gallery

We just spent some extra quality time with the HTC Thunderbolt and are drooling over the display on this thing.  The Super LCD screen on this almost looks like it can’t be real.  We thought it was a dummy unit at first glance until we saw the Sense clock flip over.  It feels amazing in hand, is still ridiculously fast even without a dual-core processor, and should be taken seriously.  We should point out that the device was actually running on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, and while the video doesn’t show it was as fast as advertised.  Oh, and I think you’ll enjoy the new Sense experience.

  • HTC Thunderbolt Coming to Verizon 4G LTE First Half 2011 with Google and 1GHZ Snapdragon Processor

The press release for the HTC Thunderbolt is out and the specs are in.  We’re looking at a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 4.3″ Super LCD screen, new Sense 2.0, 32GB pre-installed SD card, kickstand and 720p video recording.  In even better news, it’s definitely a Google device which you’ll see from the Google branding on that fancy little kickstand.  This is the same device we released 12 pictures of over a week ago.  It’s a fantastic device and we should have some longer hands-on time with it soon.

  • Gallery of Verizon’s Entire 4G LTE Device Lineup

The Verizon 4G LTE event is over and here is the entire lineup of devices.  Two tablets, 4 smartphones, 2 netbooks and a couple of modems all make up this impressive set.  All of the smartphones have 4.3″ screens, will have Skype video chatting and will be available throughout the first half of this year.  We kept thinking that the Thunderbolt would be a late January device, but there was no mention of that this afternoon.

Motorola will release the DROID BIONIC, LG has the Revolution, HTC has the Thunderbolt and Samsung can’t seem to figure out a name for theirs, but we know it’s the SCH-I520.

Check out the entire lineup after the break.  (more…)
