A tasty little Black Friday treat arrived on our doorstep today, so even though we’re sitting in the middle of a long holiday weekend, we couldn’t hold back and decided to unbox it. Moto G Shells and Flips Shells Now Available Starting at $14.99, Ship December 2
Motorola surprised us somewhat yesterday when they announced that their ultra-affordable phone, the Moto G, was now available in the U.S. as a GSM phone. Without a contract at $179 for the 8GB model, and $199 for the 16GB model, this might be the best deal in the mobile industry. Sure, the phone doesn’t have LTE, but most HSPA+ networks are plenty fast these days, just ask Nexus 4 owners how they’ve held up over the last year. (more…)

Moto G GSM Model Now Available in the US, Starts at $179
A couple of weeks back, Motorola stole smartphone headlines with the announcement of its Moto G, an ultra-affordable prepaid phone that would land on U.S. shores. At $179 for the 8GB version, you are looking at a smartphone that still has specs to compete and are good enough to provide you with a decent Android experience, yet won’t be tied to contracts or subsidy pricing. The Nexus 5 at $349 is thought to be a steal in this industry, but the Moto G might just be highway robbery. (more…)

Motorola Announces the Moto G, a “Premium” Experience Starting at $179 Off Contract
This morning, Motorola officially unveiled their new smartphone dubbed the Moto G. It’s every bit as mid-range as we expected it to be because that’s exactly the point. Motorola doesn’t think that off-contract buyers of smartphones should have to pay $600 to enjoy a premium experience that’s capable of running the latest apps and versions of Android. With Moto G, you are looking at a phone with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HD display, and a price starting at $179 full retail. Yes, we’re now talking sub-$200 for a smartphone. (more…)

Thanks to Retail Goof, Moto G Press Renders Leak and Full Specs Now Known
Motorola plans on introducing the world to the Moto G tomorrow morning, but unfortunately for them, a few retailers jumped the gun today. Appearing on multiple UK e-retailer sites, including Amazon, press renders of the G and even the full spec sheet is now public information. Sucks for Moto, but great for us. (more…)

Motorola’s Moto G Live Event Happens November 13 at 6AM Pacific
Earlier this week, Motorola sent out a “save the date” for November 13, the day they will unveil their next phone called the Moto G. Today, they have given us an exact time and place to join in on the phone’s unveiling: 6AM Pacific (9AM ET) via Google+ event. And that’s pretty much it. The event will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a sign that likely points toward this being Motorola’s ultra-affordable global offering.
We already think we know almost all of the specs of this mid-range phone, so now we simply sit back and wait for a price.
To RSVP to the live stream, hit up this Google+ event page.
