PSA: LTE Nexus 7 2013 Available for Purchase Through Verizon
Today marks the end of a ridiculous saga: the LTE-enabled Nexus 7 2013 is available for purchase through Verizon. It only took six months, but the Google-branded tablet has finally been “approved” to work on Big Red’s network. Talk about a thorough certification process!

Nexus 7 LTE Receiving Update to Enable “Full Compatibility With Verizon’s 4G LTE Network”
The Nexus 7 (2013) with LTE is receiving a 37MB update this afternoon that “enables full compatibility with Verizon’s 4G LTE network.” That’s literally all it says. The screenshot we have mentions that it’s Android 4.4.2, but as you all know, that update came long ago for Google’s 7-inch slate. You are looking at a new build number of KVT49L, though.
The timing for an update that deals with Big Red’s network couldn’t be better, as the tablet is set to launch with official compatibility tomorrow in stores and online. We first reported the news that the Nexus 7 would be sold by Verizon this Thursday, even showed pictures of the unit in stores with a line-up of accessories. (more…)

Yesterday, we received word from sources that the Nexus 7 had finally received certification from Verizon and would be sold through the carrier as early as February 13. We also saw some cases for the device, with Verizon branding, arrive in stores for the launch. Today, we are now seeing the actual device hit back storage rooms of stores, but reps are told that it can’t be sold just yet. It looks like we have finally reached the end of the “certification process.” (more…)

Nexus 7 Cases Showing Up in Verizon Packaging
Earlier today, we reported that sources of ours had indicated that Verizon would begin selling a variant of the Nexus 7 (2013) as early as next week, likely by February 13. While you could pull out our saying of “nothing is confirmed” until we hear word from the carrier, the arrival of Nexus 7 cases in stores with Verizon branding on the packages is certainly something to be added to the story.
While Verizon carries all sorts of accessories in-store, it wouldn’t make much sense for them to carry a Nexus 7 case if they weren’t also planning to sell the device at some point. We still don’t know for sure if they are going to sell it in-store, online, or both, but with cases showing up in retail shops, it could be both. (more…)
