Google has been taking to the TV hard with the Nexus 7 campaigns, and for the most part, we really like their commercials. I mean, who else didn’t want to shed a tear when we found out Boomer wasn’t doing well? There are two new commercials, recently posted to the Nexus YouTube page titled “Center Stage” and “In Play.” (more…)

Verizon Breaks Silence on Nexus 7 LTE Activations, Waiting for Google to Update Device to Android 4.4
Verizon released a statement this afternoon, which concerns all Nexus 7 LTE hopefuls looking to grab the device on Big Red’s network. Since its launch, the device has been compatible with the 4G LTE network, but Verizon has been reluctant on activating the device to its network, stating that a 4-6 week certification process was holding everything up.
Now with the 4-6 week time frame well past us, Verizon states that a “systems issue” that required Google and ASUS’ immediate attention has been the source of the hold up. With Google’s release of Kit Kat, the company apparently decided to suspend the certification process, and instead wait until Kit Kat was pushed to the Nexus 7, which will then be resubmitted for certification. Here are Google’s Two New Nexus 7 Commercials, Cute Puppy Included
Google posted these two new Nexus 7 commercials last night, both of which are as good as any of Google’s previous spots. We thought you might enjoy them, even if they are commercials.
Oh, and no, we still don’t think that “today is the day” for any sort of announcement of anything new out of Google. (more…)

Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” Shows Up in Nexus 7 Screenshot Gallery – Shows New Easter Egg, Clock App, App Drawer, and More?
In an apparent leak out of ZDnet, we may have new Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” screenshots to study for the rest of the day. The leak shows an older build of Kit Kat running on a Nexus 7 (2013) tablet, along with a variety of screenshots from different areas inside the new build of our favorite mobile OS compared to Android 4.3. We have a look at the Easter Egg, more icons in the app drawer, the slightly tweaked Clock app, Settings menu, and the new Downloads app. There is a lot to take in, so we’ll continue to update this post as we have more. First Look: Nexus 7 (2013) Official Google Play Case
On Tuesday, Google revealed their first official cases for the new 2013 Nexus 7 on Google Play (outside of that zipper thing). The cases are actually designed by Google and molded perfectly to fit their new affordable tablet. They come in four different colors (blue, red, white, and black), are made of soft suede, and carry a premium price of $49.99, which most would argue is far too steep for a flip case. We’ve already highlighted a number of cases that can be had through Amazon for as little as $5, but just in case you were thinking of going the official Google route, we bought a couple to give our first impressions on. Official Nexus 7 Flip Cases Hit Google Play in Four Colors, Steep $49.99 Price
Google pushed out brand new “official” Nexus 7 (2013) flip cases to Google Play this morning that run $49.99 a piece. The cases come in four colors: red, blue, white, and black. The red and blue versions are mostly grey suede, though, but have red and blue interiors for pops of color. Each case also features a lower-left positioned Google flag, so you’ll never forget who designed your protective cover. (more…)

Android 4.3.1 Now Rolling Out to Nexus 7 LTE (2013) as Build JLS36I
Talk about a lovely surprise – wake up to find an Android 4.3.1 update showing as available on your Nexus 7 LTE (2013). The update is a 9.4MB file that jumps the N7 LTE up to build JLS36I, however, we have no idea what’s new. A x.x.1 update typically doesn’t mean much, but we have also seen 4.3 updates that stuck with 4.3 and didn’t give us the additional .1. There must be something new. Once we know what it is, we’ll be sure to pass it along.
At this time, we haven’t received word of an update to the WiFi only 2013 Nexus 7 or any other Nexus. We wouldn’t doubt it if they all start to rollout shortly, though. (more…)
