Ready for the retail clear-out of the Nexus 7? As we mentioned a couple of weeks ago in our latest Q&A session, Google was preparing to drop the price of the Nexus 7 to make way for the new model which could launch by the end of the month. While we’re waiting for that to happen through Google Play, the discounts at retailers have already begun. (more…)

New Nexus 7 Appears to Support LTE Networks for Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile
After the FCC filing for the new Nexus 7 became public this morning, the device as model number K009 has been the talk of tech world (well, outside of Kanye’s album leaking early). A Bluetooth SIG filing for it was discovered, plus most of the specs for the new 7-inch Google slate have all but been confirmed now, including LTE support. And speaking of LTE support, while doing some extra digging in the FCC report, Brian Klug of Anandtech discovered something that we haven’t seen often if ever in a new tablet or smartphone. We’re talking multi-band LTE support for Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. (more…)

Here it comes, the Nexus 7 refresh. After months of speculation that it would arrive anywhere from Google I/O to July, the device finally stopped by the FCC, making it somewhat official. And thanks to the filing from the FCC, we know a lot about the device, including the processor, the fact that it has a rear camera, and that there will be LTE on board. (more…)

I Think Google Just Killed Off the Official Nexus 7 Dock
Google is currently removing the Nexus 7 Dock from its Google Play store pages, leaving the landing page for the accessory to say only that it “is not available in your country.” Seems like they are killing it off for good. We see them make Play store page changes all of the time, but this is a blatant removal from Nexus 7 pages, not a change in shipping status.
Does this mean that a new Nexus 7 is imminent? Not really. Rumors have pegged a new N7 for a July release, but an accessory disappearing is not necessarily a sign of that happening.
If you still want one, Amazon appears to have them in stock.

Nexus 7 Visits Bluetooth SIG Again With Android 4.3, the Question is Why?
Rumors were swirling before Google I/O this year that we would see a refreshed Nexus 7, complete with new specs and features to “wow” us. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, but the rumors of the Nexus 7 refresh have not gone away. The rumors keep alive and this weekend’s news that the Nexus 7 got re-certified for Bluetooth is interesting to say the least. Why would it need to pass through Bluetooth SIG again? (more…)

Is Google Trolling Us or Did They Tease a New Nexus 7 in This Hangouts Promo Video?
It’s probably safe to say that we were all a little disappointed when yesterday’s 3-hour keynote finished at Google I/O without an announcement for a new Nexus 7 tablet. Rumors have circulated for months, suggesting that I/O could be the time for Google to show us a retooled model with a higher-resolution display and new Qualcomm processor. But again, we left the show yesterday without one. Is there a chance that we saw the oft-rumored follow-up in a promo video for Hangouts, though? (more…)
