Our month of massive giveaways continues! Last week, Google put five Nexus 7s and five $25 Google Play gift cards, in what turned out to be some of the more entertaining contests we have ever done. Since it’s Monday and we are days away from X-mas, it seemed appropriate to update the Nexus situation in the Google Play store. Last week, the 8GB Nexus 4, 16GB Nexus 7, and 32GB Nexus 10 were all marked as “Sold Out,” which means they weren’t even available for backorder. Previously, Google had changed to an extended shipping period so that customers could still order the device, just not expect it to arrive for weeks. Accessories for Nexus devices are a lot like Bigfoot or unicorns – everyone claims to have seen them and that they are coming, but rarely do we get to see them with our own eyes. Take these two stories as examples. The first, comes from Japan, where a guy claims to have been able to buy the official Nexus 7 POGO dock “a day early” at some sort of retail outlet. Now, as you all know, this dock is no where to be found here in the U.S., nor do we know if it will ever arrive here. We saw a listing on Asus’ Japanese site for it that mentioned it would be available in “early December,” so clearly, it hit that launch. Unfortunately, none of us are in Japan. Unicorn. (more…)

We only have two left after three days of amazing contests, so be sure to get in on the last couple. On Monday, you gave us your best Android haikus. You then followed that up with incredible artwork and panoramas. For today’s contest, we’ll make it even simpler.

Many of you may be making final holiday present preparations, so we thought an update to the status of the Nexus lineup in the Google Play was in store. If you were planning to pickup a Nexus 4 8GB, Nexus 7 16GB, or Nexus 10 32GB, you should probably consider other options.
The 8GB version of the Nexus 4 has been sold out for at least a week, the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 joined it this week, and the 32GB version of the Nexus 10 flipped to “Sold Out” this morning. In the past, we have seen the shipping estimate extended for devices rather than a dead-end “Sold Out,” so they really must be struggling to keep up with demand.
Update 12/13: The 32GB Nexus 10 is now showing as in stock and shipping in less than a week.
Also, the 16GB version of the Nexus 4 is now shipping in 6-7 weeks, however, a number of folks are reporting much quicker shipping times. I for one received mine in about 3 weeks after having been told it would take 4-5. The 16GB Nexus 10 and two other Nexus 7 options are all at 3-5 business days, so they are still in play.

On Monday, you gave us your best haikus and then followed those up the next day with amazing Android art. The haikus were so good, that we grabbed a handful of our favorites and featured them in a post, here. Later today, we’ll post up our favorite Android art pieces, since there are some priceless pieces of work in there.

In yesterday’s contest, we asked that you give us your best Android haiku, and boy did you all deliver. We had over 1700 poems, many of which will be featured in a post later today. Each and every day, you still impress the heck out of us. But we have more to do!
