  • T-Mobile is Getting the Nexus 4 for $199 on Contract, Nexus 7 With 3G as Well

T-Mobile and Google have always had a good working relationship with each other as far as Nexus devices go. The two companies are looking to keep that tradition going with the announcement that the Nexus 4 will be available on-contract through the magenta carrier by the end of this year. On November 13, T-Mobile customers will be able to purchase the Nexus 4 for $199.99 through Google Play and in-stores a day after.

Google isn’t stopping the partnership there though, T-Mo will also be carrying the 3G Nexus 7 on their network as well. If you are looking to pick up the network enabled tablet it will go on sale through Google Play on November 5. You won’t have to wait too long to get your hands on the next iterations of Google’s flagship devices.  (more…)

  • Google Updates Nexus 7 Play Store Picture, Changes 16GB Model to “Not for Sale at This Time” and Removes Price

Since the Android event that was to take place this morning was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy, we were wondering whether or not we would see any changes in Google Play this morning. Many retailers across the country are now selling the 32GB Nexus 7 for $249 and the 16GB version for $199, so you would think that Google would have to change their own listing in some way. Well, they have, by making both the 8GB and 16GB models of the N7 no longer available. To take it a step further, the 16GB version is now listed as “Not for sale at this time” and the price for it has been completely removed. The 8GB model is still showing as “Coming soon!” and with a $199 price.  (more…)

  • 32GB Nexus 7 Goes on Display at Office Depot for $249, 16GB Drops to $199

Not that we weren’t fully expecting this to happen, but in case you needed one last ounce of proof that the 32GB Nexus 7 was arriving for $249 and the 16GB version was dropping to $199, we have it for you. Office Depot stores across the country are putting them on display today. Most of them also have limited stock, so if you feel like upgrading to 32GB of storage, call ahead and see how many they have left. A handful of DL readers all dropped a note in our inbox, claiming that they were able to purchase them in-store.

We are starting to wonder how long it’ll be before Google updates the Play store to reflect this change. With tomorrow’s Android event cancelled, they won’t have the chance to talk about its availability any time soon.  With distribution expected to hit major retailers in the coming days, it would be wise of them to announce the tablet and update the Play store.

    Cheers Alec and Mike!

  • Friday Poll: What are You Most Excited to See at Google’s October 29 Android Event?

Samsung Nexus 10. LG Nexus 4. 32GB and 3G Nexus 7. Android 4.2. Those are the four topics that have all but been confirmed to dominate Google’s Android event on October 29 in NYC. Samsung’s tablet is the newest of the bunch to leak, along with bits and pieces of what’s new in Android 4.2. The LG Nexus 4 has been on display a handful of times now. The 32GB and 3G Nexus 7 models haven’t been a mystery for weeks.

But now that you know a decent amount of info about each of these things, is there one subject in particular that you are most looking forward to learning more about? Or are you hoping for one more big surprise?

  • 3G-Packed Nexus 7 Strolls Through FCC, Launch Coming In Time for Google’s Event?

According to the FCC website, we have a confirmed Nexus 7 sporting 3G connectivity on our hands. We’ve been hearing the rumors with sprinkles of well-sourced info that this device was indeed happening, but with FCC filings going down, this is a great sign. The question is, will it make it here in time for next week’s Google Android event that is to take place in NYC?  (more…)

  • Nexus 7 32GB Lands on Office Depot Website for $250

This morning, a reader noticed that Office Depot has the 32GB Nexus 7 listed on their site and available for purchase. The price is set at $250 plus three day shipping, same as the 16GB. Interestingly enough, they still have the 16GB model for sale as well for the same price, so if you go to buy one, make sure you’re selecting the correct option.

We’re more than likely to see the announcement of the 32GB variant from Google at their Android event next week in NYC. Until then, go get it while you still can.

    Buy.

    Cheers Tim!

  • Nexus 7 vs. iPad mini [Chart]

I think you all know my opinion on the Nexus 7 vs. iPad mini comparison that Apple walked through today during their press event. Aside from that, here is the spec breakdown between the two. Since both are in different price ranges, it seems like a silly comparison, but hey, Apple felt it was necessary, so let’s do it. It’s tough to claim that we have a winner here, however, the Nexus 7 is no slouch, even at such a ridiculously low price. The iPad mini looks nice for something not in the budget category.  (more…)
