• Nexus 7 Cases Now “In Stock” Through Google Play Store, Get Them While You Can

Just yesterday, we were talking about the crazy high demand for official Nexus 7 cases and how silly kids were willing to pay upwards of $100 to get a hold of one. After selling out in minutes on the day that the N7 went live, the Google Play Store hasn’t had any in stock for weeks. Well, until now. If you rush on over, you can order them today!

While we haven’t had a chance to play with one ourselves, the listing says that it allows for simultaneous charging and head usage. It has a matte finish and will likely take advantage of the hidden magnet for auto-on and off screen fun. I stand corrected, it does not have magnet magic.

  • Google Teaches You About Google Apps on Your New Nexus 7

Moments ago, Google uploaded this video to keep the momentum moving along in this line of tutorial videos for new Nexus 7 owners. Since the heart of the Nexus 7 is all about apps, Google goes hands-on with their own portfolio of applications including Gmail, Google Earth, and Google’s Chrome browser. These videos are certainly geared towards the Android newbies, but hey, we all have to start somewhere.

  • Official $20 Nexus 7 Case Selling for Over $100 on eBay

When the Nexus 7 first went on sale, early adopters had the opportunity to tack on an official $19.99 case to their order. According to eBay listings that a reader just sent us, you would have been wise to have done just that. Since the case has been backordered for weeks, Nexus 7 owners have been forced into buying cheap knock-offs from Amazon and then modifying them a bit so that they work with the Jelly Bean running beast. If you want official though, you better be ready to pay up to 5 times as much as the case is worth. If you cruise around eBay for a minute, you’ll find the N7 case anywhere from $60 to over $100.

Is it really that nice of a case?

  • Google Teaches You to “Make Yourself at Home” With Your Nexus 7

Last night, Google uploaded the beginning video of what may be a series of tutorial videos for the Nexus 7. It was a simple intro that we skipped by since you all know how to add a Google account, however, today’s is all about customizing your home screen. Most of this is for beginners, but hey, even beginners need to know where to start, right?

    Still enjoying your Nexus 7?

  • Developer Ports Unofficial AOKP Build to the Nexus 7

Developer nize2beme uploaded a port of AOKP for the Nexus 7 to the forums at RootzWiki last night. So far, this is a very early alpha build and in order to get it booted up and running, he says he needed to take pieces of code from the newest CM10 source. At the moment, the developer is looking to get it up and running with more stability, then will add custom features such as a tablet mode tweak and all of the other battery mods and other AOKP customizations.

If your Nexus 7 is unlocked, rooted, and running a custom recovery, then feel free to give it a go. Be sure to make a backup.

  • Monday Poll: Share Your Likes and Dislikes With the Nexus 7

Everyone who pre-ordered the Nexus 7 should have their shiny new tablets in hand by now. And with the weekend gone, we are guessing you became pretty familiar with yours. Folks who were still hesitant on the smaller 7″ device may have come to find that it is the perfect size for playing games and watching videos or maybe, buyers of the 8GB version have realized that 8GB can be filled up rather quickly these days.

As for me, the only thing I wish I could change is the battery size. It will surely last a full day of heavy use, but I just feel like it should last longer. That’s just me though. Feel free to let us know down below on what you personally like and dislike about the Nexus 7.

  • Google Takes the Nexus 7 Camping in First Commercial

We were wondering if Google was going to go the traditional marketing route with the new Nexus 7 tablet, meaning, would they release any TV spots for it? We won’t know for sure until an ad actually starts rolling on the big screen, but in this first commercial that appeared on YouTube last night, they easily could make that transition. A father and son take it camping, showing off all of the cool things that you can do with the device out in the wilderness, without a WiFi signal (or in your backyard on WiFi). It has a retail sort of feel to it, rather than the quick online-only ads they tend to run. This one seems built for a mass audience, especially when you consider the father-son relationship here. • Video: Nexus 7 Drop Test, Fully Functional Even After Being Dropped in Bathtub

Well, you knew it would come. A drop test of the new Nexus 7 tablet. For comparison, the folks over at SquareTrade decided to pit it against an iPad, and if you were buying a tablet for strength and perseverance, then it looks like you would only have to shell out $200. When dropped from chest height, table height, and even in a bathtub dunk test, the Nexus 7 is a clear winner.  (more…)
