    DEALS: Nexus 5 32GB for $140, DROID Turbo for $170

    Need a phone at the moment, maybe one that is a temporary placeholder as we wait for phones like the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 to arrive? Today, there are two phone deals worth looking at.

    The first is for the Nexus 5 with 32GB storage that can be had for just $140 over at eBay. The second is for Verizon’s DROID Turbo that can be had for as little as $170 over at Groupon. Each phone is refurbished, so they aren’t new. But again, they could be great placeholders for someone in-between phones or who may have broken their current phone and can’t fork out another $500-$600 at the moment for a new one.

    The Nexus 5 is the original and will work on T-Mobile and AT&T here in the US. The DROID Turbo will work on Verizon (of course), but should also see GSM HSPA+ support on AT&T. If you want the full LTE experience, though, you really will want to stick to Verizon.  (more…)

    The price slashing in recent weeks of the Nexus 5X has become a bit comical at this point. The phone, which was released in October of last year, started out at $379 for 16GB of storage. After a temporary Black Friday discount, we have since seen a permanent discount by Google to $349, followed by another potentially temporary discount for Valentine’s Day to $299. So within a matter of months, Google and its retail partners have decided that you should be able to join the Nexus family for under $300.

    Actually, if you act fast, you can buy it for even cheaper through a daily deal over at eBay. If you are cool with 16GB of storage, you can grab the Nexus 5X for just $279.99. That price also includes the free expedited shipping.

    If you took advantage of Friday’s Nexus 5X deal that featured Google’s littler Nexus for $312, I apologize, because today, we have an even better deal. BuyDig (via eBay) is currently selling the Nexus 5X with 16GB of storage for $299 and the 32GB model for $349. Those are the lowest prices we have seen to date.

    Hold on, though, it gets even better. By purchasing either of the versions, you will also receive a $20 VISA gift card, just because. The VISA gift cards will take 6-8 weeks to arrive, but I can’t imagine you’ll have a problem with that.

    Through a daily deal running over at eBay, you can grab the Nexus 5X with 16GB of storage for just $312. Even after Google’s recent price reduction on their littler Nexus to $349, you are still seeing a solid $37 savings here. Oh, and free expedited shipping is included as well.

    For those not familiar, the Nexus 5X is a return of sorts for the original Nexus 5, which many consider to be the best Nexus phone ever released. LG manufactured it for Google, it features a similar design to the original and a similar build, but it has a greatly improved camera and a fingerprint reader. It’s a solid smallish phone, that may suffer from a performance hiccup here or there. That’s something we’re still hoping Google can figure out at some point. If you are willing to deal with that unknown, today is the day to pull the trigger.

    Yeah, yeah, it’s really old at this point, but look, the original Nexus 5 is still being supported by Google. It also runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow pretty flawlessly. This is an Android icon, without a doubt. And you can still own one today, supposedly in “new” condition.

    Through a deal over at eBay, you can pick-up the white Nexus 5 with 32GB of storage for just $189.99. Are there better values out there? I honestly don’t know that there are. Sure, the camera isn’t great, but the performance, feel in hand, and overall design of this phone are still almost unmatched.

That’s a solid $20 discount off of Google’s recently reduced price on the 32GB version.

    The Nexus 6, last year’s flagship Nexus device, is back for a third or fourth (I’ve lost track) time through an eBay deal for an absurdly low $289 price. And again, this for for a brand new, unlocked Nexus 6 in Midnight Blue with 32GB of storage. This is also the XT1103 model, which is the North American variant that works on all carriers here, including Verizon.

    The deal includes free economy shipping and probably shouldn’t be passed on if you are in need of a really good phone, but have less than $300 to spend.
