DEAL: Nexus 5X 16GB is Just $229 Today at eBay ($120 Off)

The Nexus 5X, the smaller new Nexus from Google that lives on the affordable side, is available today at eBay for a ridiculously low price of $229. That’s $120 off, by the way.

This particular phone is version H791, which is actually the international or euro version, so that means you probably can’t use this phone on Verizon or Sprint. It’s essentially an unlocked GSM phone, with all supported bands for T-Mobile and AT&T. Sorry, CDMA folks.

Still, if you want a Nexus and are on AT&T or T-Mobile, talk about a hell of a deal.

DEAL: Nexus 5X 16GB is Just $249 Today on eBay, 32GB is $299 ($100 Off)

The Nexus 5X recently received a supposed jank-fixing update that we have been waiting for since the phone first launched. The jury is still out on whether or not it did improve overall performance, but a number of readers have already noticed improvements to the camera launch and general UI smoothness. Assuming the update has improved the phone, you probably shouldn’t ignore today’s deal on it over at eBay.

For $249, you can own the 16GB model, or you can jump up to $299 and get into the 32GB model. That’s a solid $100 off of each. Each listing also includes free shipping.

Who knows how long the listing will last, so don’t hesitate if you are in need of a new Nexus that won’t kill your budget.

First Android N Preview Update is Available

The first update for the Android N preview is now available. For now, the update is available through new factory images, but should be rolling out over-the-air (OTA) before long, if it isn’t already, I would imagine.

The updates are showing up for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P as build NPC56W, while the Nexus 9 is getting NPC56X. The rest of the Nexus line-up isn’t seeing new files just yet.  (more…)

  • Question of the Day: Nexus 5X Owners, Did Recent Update Fix the Jank?

Question of the Day: Nexus 5X Owners, Did Recent Update Fix the Jank?

On March 8, Nexus 5X owners were set to receive an update that was supposed to clean up much of the jank that resided in the device. By “fixing jank,” the update was actually listed as featuring fixes for “overall stability, connectivity, and performance.” This was in addition to being the monthly security update for March.

During the review of the Nexus 5X, we found performance to be quite weak, with a lot of stuttering and lag taking place. For a Nexus device, this was not a fun experience.

Now that a few days have passed, we have to ask Nexus 5X owners out there, has the jank been taken care of?

Android N: A Quick Video Tour (Part 2)

Earlier today, we took a quick tour of the new Android N Developer Preview, showing you how Google’s take on Multi Window works, along with a brief overview of the new notifications, quick settings shade, and settings menu. It was really a video made to focus on the big upfront changes in Android N, so now we’re focusing on some of the smaller, less obvious items.

In this part 2 video, we take a look at what’s new in the hidden System UI Tuner (Night Mode, DND toggles, etc.), show a quick method for accessing Multi Window, discover Data Saver, and some new accessibility features, like Display Size adjustments.

The Android Beta Program is now open!

As a part of the release of the first Android N Developer Preview, Google is also kicking off a beta program that gives you over-the-air (OTA) access to these preview builds. This is a way for developers (or Android nerds who just love new versions of Android) to get the newest builds without having to flash factory images. As new versions of these preview builds rollout, you should be the first in line to receive them over-the-air, assuming you have registered. (more…)
