January’s Android Security Update Goes Live With Factory Images for Nexus, Pixel
Google just posted the Android security update for January 2017 and the files are already live for a number of devices.
So far, we are seeing 7.1.1 files for Pixel and Pixel XL (NMF26U, NMF26V), Pixel C (N4F26I), Nexus 6P (N4F26I, N4F26J), Nexus 5X (N4F26I), Nexus Player (NMF26R), and Nexus 9 (N4F26M). (more…)

Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X Beta Users Get Stable Android 7.1.1 Update
The stable build of Android 7.1.1 that Google posted back on December 5 just started arriving on the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X devices participating in the Android Beta Program. Android 7.1.1 Update Factory Images Goes Live For Pixel and Nexus! (Updated)
Google just unwrapped Android 7.1.1 factory image files for Pixel and Nexus devices. That’s right on schedule with Verizon’s news this morning and matches up to Google’s previously monthly releases. Not only is this Android 7.1.1, but it should be the December security patch as well. (more…)

Vodafone Says Android 7.1.1 Should Arrive by December 5
According to a recently updated Vodafone support page for the Nexus 6P, the Android 7.1.1 stable update will arrive from Google on December 5. Google already told us to expect the update in December, but up until now, we had not yet seen a specific date. (more…)

Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview 2 is Live for Nexus 6P, 5X, and Pixel C (Updated)
Google just posted the Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview 2 files for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C! EDIT: Nexus 9 now too!
There are three ways to get the update to Android 7.1.1 developer preview 2 at this time. The first is through the Android Beta Program, which will allow Google to send the update to you over-the-air. If you don’t want to go that route, you can choose between flashing factory images or OTA .zip files found below. (more…)

Video: What’s New in Android 7.1.1 on Nexus
Moments after Google released factory images and OTA .zip files of the Android 7.1.1 developer preview for the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Pixel C, we flashed it and accepted the over-the-air beta to see what other kinds of goodies were baked in that didn’t make the 7.1 announcement. We posted a few of the changes to Twitter, but figured a short video was needed for the others.
So far, we’ve found the new 24/7 support tab that we thought might be a Pixel-only feature, new Moves section (think Moto Actions), the restart option in the power menu, slight tweak to quick toggles, Smart Storage settings, and more. We haven’t yet found Night Light, which appears to have been left out. (Sad face)
