Camera Shootout: LG G3 vs. Galaxy S5 vs. One (M8) vs. Nexus 5 vs. iPhone 5s

The 13MP camera featured on the LG G3 is certainly one of its main highlights. Much like last year’s G2, the camera features optical image stabilization (OIS+), as well as a fancy new laser built right into the backside of the device to create super-fast auto focus times.

Over the weekend, we put the LG G3 through the camera paces, coming away extremely impressed. For comparison purposes, we took out five top devices, just to see if we could try to come away with something useful.

Down below in the gallery, we have shots from the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8), Google Nexus 5, and Apple iPhone 5s.  (more…)

  • HTC One (M8) Gallery Update Brings Blur Level Adjustments to UFocus Photos

HTC One (M8) Gallery Update Brings Blur Level Adjustments to UFocus Photos

If you own an HTC One (M8), be sure to cruise into Google Play today and grab the update to the HTC Gallery application. The update introduces a focus intensity slider to your UFocus photos, which means you have more control over that bokeh. The update also allows any Sense 6.0 device to view Dimension Plus and Pan 360 photos.

To use the new intensity slider, all you need to do is take a photo, view that photo in the Gallery, tap “Edit,”  then “Effects,” and then UFocus. Once there, a new slider will appear on the left side with the top being the most blur and the bottom being less blur. It works, as advertised.  (more…)

  • Official: Verizon Adds Gold and Red HTC One (M8) to Lineup, Available June 5

Official: Verizon Adds Gold and Red HTC One (M8) to Lineup, Available June 5

We broke news on this last night, but Verizon has made the HTC One (M8) in Glamour Red official for June 5. They are also adding the Amber Gold variant, both of which will be available for $199 on 2-year contract. Both new colors can be purchased both online and in Verizon stores starting Thursday.

For a limited time, Verizon is offering $100 off any smartphone priced $199 or higher, so the One (M8) and its two new color variants are included. Of course, the $100 is only for contract signing.

The specs remain the same for the the gold and red variants, meaning you are looking at a 5-inch 1080p LCD display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 4MP (“UltraPixel” Duo Camera, Sense 6.0, and that beautiful all-metal body.

Be sure to read our HTC One (M8) review if you have not already.  (more…)

  • Here is Verizon’s HTC One (M8) in Red, Should be Here Thursday

Here is Verizon’s HTC One (M8) in Red, Should be Here Thursday

Back in late April, we saw press renders for a red variant of the HTC One (M8) that was reportedly headed for Verizon. Today, we are getting a look at a real unit in the wild, with sources telling us that we should expect to see it in Big Red stores on Thursday, June 5.

There isn’t much else to say about the device, other than the fact that it is a shiny red color. This will carry the same 5-inch 1080p LCD display as the original One (M8) and Snapdragon 801 processor, plus 2GB RAM, Sense 6.0, and the 4MP (“UltraPixel”) Duo Camera.

    Any takers?

  • Specs Comparison: LG G3 vs. Galaxy S5. vs. HTC One (M8)

Specs Comparison: LG G3 vs. Galaxy S5. vs. HTC One (M8)

If you are considering the LG G3, you probably want to know how it compares to the other flagship phones of the moment. Devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC one (M8), and maybe even the Nexus 5 are all more than likely on your radar. To help you decide, we put together a classic comparison sheet of their specs, so you can at least see how they stack up to one-another on paper.

The G3 is the first of the bunch to use a QHD display, so in terms of display, it clearly stands above the rest. But is the 13MP camera, metallic body, new flat LG UI,  3000mAh battery, and combination of storage and RAM enough to make it the best of them all? Tough to say until we all spend more time with the G3.

  • Buy an HTC One (M8) at AT&T, Save $50 on FitBit One or Flex

Buy an HTC One (M8) at AT&T, Save $50 on FitBit One or Flex

Starting today, if you pick up a One (M8) from HTC at an AT&T retail location, you could walk away with either a FitBit One or FitBit Flex for $50 off of its suggested retail price. Apparently, AT&T is the only carrier to pre-install the FitBit app as bloatware on its version of the One (M8), a fact we were unaware of.

Without the $50 discount, both FitBit devices retail for $99, so bringing them to $49 sounds like quite the bargain.  (more…)

  • Alleged HTC One M8 “Prime” Specs Leaked Thanks to Twitter Beef

Alleged HTC One M8 “Prime” Specs Leaked Thanks to Twitter Beef

Over the past few hours on Twitter, @evleaks has taken to de-mystify an upcoming HTC product, known currently as the M8 Prime. The leak is thanks to HTC’s Global Communications Manager Jeff Gordon, who ambiguously told his followers on Twitter to be careful where they get their news from.

Gordon’s initial tweet stated, “In the past few days, a well-known leaker has been completely wrong about at least two of his leaks.” Taking this tweet personally, even though Gordon states it was not even about him, @evleaks decided to pull back the curtain on a few specifications for the device from Gordon’s company.  (more…)
