Verizon XLTE Phones, Tablets, and Hotspots

With Verizon XLTE expected to be announced on May 19, we have had a number of readers ask about which phones will be able to take advantage of the upgraded speeds. As you may have guessed, most of Verizon’s phones that have been released within the last year are compatible. All they need is support for Band 4 LTE, which is the AWS spectrum that Big Red is pumping into cities to create this XLTE coverage. Phones like the Galaxy S5 and S4, Moto X, DROID ULTRA and MAXX, and One (M8) are all going to be a part of the fun.

Below, you will find a solid list of the types of phones that will work with XLTE, courtesy of our sources.  (more…)

T-Mobile HTC One (M8) Gets Extreme Power Saving Mode, One (M7) Gets Sense 6.0

If you have an account with T-Mobile and own either variant of the HTC One, you should see an update this weekend. The One (M8) is finally receiving its update that includes Extreme Power Saving Mode, while the One (M7) is seeing Sense 6.0.  (more…)

  • Deal: Unlocked HTC One (M8) From eBay for $649 ($50 Off)

Deal: Unlocked HTC One (M8) From eBay for $649 ($50 Off)

Ever since HTC raised the price on the unlocked model of their 2014 flagship One (M8), we have been on the hunt for a deal that would drop it below its steep $699 asking price. That deal has come today, through an eBay daily deal.

For $649, you can pick up a brand new unlocked HTC One (M8) that should work on AT&T LTE just fine, but may not see the best connectivity at all times on T-Mobile. That’s not the steepest discount around, especially when you consider the full retail on Verizon’s model is only $599, but it’s the best price around. (more…)

  • Sony Xperia Z2 vs. HTC One (M8)

Sony Xperia Z2 vs. HTC One (M8)

We are in full Sony Xperia Z2 review preparation mode after having the phone in hand through the weekend. For the moment, that means one thing – comparisons. In our first of two comparisons, we have put the HTC One (M8) up against Sony’s newest flagship, giving our own thoughts on the specs, hardware design, display quality, camera UIs, and more.

Both the Xperia Z2 and One (M8) carry very similar specs, but that is about the only similarity here. On a camera front, we all know that HTC went with a somewhat-risky 4MP sensor (plus a secondary depth sensor), whereas Sony is using a large 20.7MP shooter. The hardware couldn’t be more different, either. HTC has gone with an all-metal unibody exterior that is rounded to perfection to create smartphone luxury, while Sony went with a combo of glass, metal, and plastic to form a body that is quite square for a modern smartphone. If you look at their two takes on an Android skin, you will again see how different the design philosophies are. Finally, I have to say that battery life on the Xperia Z2 has been out-of-this-world good. I only had to charge the device once over the weekend, while working extra hard on day two to try and kill it.

After watching the comparison clip below, be sure to let us know what else you would like to see from the Xperia Z2. Finally, be on the lookout for a similar video featuring the Galaxy S5.  (more…)

Press Render of HTC One (M8) in Blue Leaked

A new render for the One (M8) from HTC has hit the web, this time in Blue. Quite fancy, is it not? No additional information is known as to which carrier it could end up on here in the States, but if history is to repeat itself, it could end up at Best Buy locations on-contract through Sprint’s network.

We have already seen one additional color for the M8, Red, as it was making its way to Verizon. That device has yet to become official, though.  (more…)

    Let’s do it.  (more…)
