Select Banking Apps Add Direct Integration With Android Pay

Use Bank of America or USAA? Then you’re in luck, along with three other bank brand customers, as Android Pay integration has been directly injected into these partner banking applications.

With this move, customers of Bank of America, USAA, Discover, BNZ (Bank of New Zealand), and mBank can find Android Pay support directly inside of their native mobile banking applications. This means that setting up your cards for usage with Android Pay has never been easier.

Also, provided this support is built directly into your existing banking app, you won’t need the Android Pay app to be installed to add or remove cards. As Google puts it, “You can manage bank card choices, like selecting your default payment card or deactivating a card on your phone.” If you plan on making purchases from your phone, though, I’d suggest having Android Pay installed.

Customers of those select banks, have at it.

  • had a young girl freak out yesterday when I was using Samsung pay on my watch, kept saying Apple pay doesn’t work here , lol told her to calm down, Apple pay is worthless and Samsung pay work everywhere

  • Nothing beats #SamsungPayPeriod that’s the only thing to use. Android is nothing more than a second or third worthless choice similarly to Android Wear nobody uses those junk offerings.

    • If that were true, why doesn’t this article even mention Samsung pay? Delusional moron.

  • Speaking of adding/removing cards in Android Pay, if you’re going to flash a different ROM, I highly suggest removing all your credit cards from Android Pay first. I made the mistake of trying out a few ROMs, each time adding my CITI card to Android Pay, and eventually it wouldn’t let me add it anymore. Google said I had to contact my bank, my bank said I had it added to too many devices (despite it just being one) and that I needed to contact Google. I ended up just reporting the card as lost, received a new one, and now remove it from Android Pay any time I’m going to format my phone.

    • Along the same lines of PSAs, also, if you get a new battery (NFC enabled, obviously) don’t expect it to work. I currently have an ongoing ticket with APAY concerning this. In short, I can show where simply changing the battery makes APAY not work. Same phone/card/location/reader/everything, except the battery. Card scanner says “Multiple cards.” DAMN. ANNOYING.

    • This is a security feature, of all banks for mobile payments (same with ApplePay and SPay). While you only had one phone, you still have the card registered on what looks like X number of devices – This is because the identification method changed when you flashed your rom (Phone number alone is not unique enough). Delinking your card before you flash lowers the count of active devices. Each bank manage their own counts and rules around it differently.

The intent of the security feature is simple: prevent mass scale fraud on the card – i.e. your card gets stolen and put on a forum 8,000 people can’t add your card before you shut it down.

      • Yeah, I understand the purpose of the limitation. Was simply pointing it out for those to which it doesn’t occur so they don’t unintentionally hit it like I did and have to deal with Google and their bank bouncing them back and forth.

        • Fair enough. It should just be bank item. And it should, honestly, be as simple as telling the bank to cancel all the tokens associated with your account. Typically they’ll have to do a higher level of authentication with you over the phone, but after that it should be fine. Then the count should go down. Maybe there’s a delay in how often the count check runs… That might vary bank to bank, like the number of provisions allowed does.

          • Probably. And also since I’ve received the new one, I’ve limited the times I’ve formatted my phone because each time I want to add the new one to Android Pay I have to call them and have them manually approve it. Any other cards I can just do by text verification.

          • Ah, you’re caught in the velocity check. (I worked in Fraud Risk for one of the banks during Apple/Android pay launches). one of the other fun security features is the frequency of adding/removing based on time (i.e. velocity). You’ve been triggered to always red.

          • From my brand, there was no method of customer escape. Since the velocity check is inherently time based, not doing it for a while should help. I can’t speak for all brands though. Good luck.

          • You can also login to your bank to delete the digital wallet associated with the card.

          • It’s likely an issue of their IT security teams being completely separate from customer service and such. It’s not a bad added layer of security to have. Without it–and while this may be unlikely–it would only take a single low level agent to clear all the tokens from a slew of accounts that were all going to be used en masse and in unison as you suggested above. I’m fine with the slight inconvenience in exchange for that.

    • Same thing will happen with Play Movies if you don’t remove the download before swapping Roms or powerwashing.

        • I’ve made $84,000 so far this year working online and I’m a full time student. I’m using an online business opportunity I heard about and I’ve made such great money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it. The potential with this is endless. Here’s what I do

    • For future reference don’t report it as lost. Just ask for a new card because it is worn out. A lost or stolen card dings your credit score for some reason, a replacement card does not.
