Cases from Cruzerlite for the Nexus 7 tablet are now up and they can be purchased in a wide variety of colors. As for the material they are made of, it’s a hard rubbery material that is sure to stand up to a beating. Here’s a previous review of Cruzerlite material we did for the Galaxy Nexus. If you can’t get enough of Bugdroid and want to keep your Nexus 7 safe for an affordable price, it can’t be beat.  (more…)

  • Nexus 7 Toolkits Designed for Mac Appear, Makes Flashing a Little Bit Easier

I can speak from personal experience here in saying that flashing and rooting Android devices is always a little bit tricky for Mac users. The majority of instructions found on XDA or RootzWiki are written for Windows users, and most toolkits are as well. Today however, things have gotten a bit easier for owners of Macs and Nexus 7s.

These toolkits are a bit light on the features so far, but you can root/unroot, unlock/relock the bootloader and install ClockworkMod Recovery with these scripts. A fantastic start and it will sure to be welcome from Mac users. Head over to XDA at the link below for downloads and a place to leave feedback if you need to.

  • Analysts: Google’s Nexus 7 Sales Could Reach 8 Million By the End of 2012

Taken from the number of sales of the displays used in the device, it looks like Google will be looking at a grand total of 8 million Nexus 7 tablets sold by the end of 2012. According to what Google had previously expected to sell since the July launch, that’s more than double the previous estimates. Google spokespeople have yet to confirm these projections, but once the sales numbers are posted, folks are likely to be happily surprised at the popularity of the Jelly Bean-powered device.

I know I could speak for most readers here that it’s easily been one of the most popular Android devices ever launched. With fantastic build quality, Jelly Bean, and that unbeatable $200-$250 price tag, it can’t be beat.

  • MIUI Jelly Bean ROM Released for Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7

MIUI, one of our all-time favorite ROMs, was updated this weekend to Jelly Bean and then released for a couple of our favorite devices of all time. The Galaxy Nexus (both LTE and GSM) and Nexus 7 each received a build that apparently has little to no issues or bugs. The changelog itself is massive, however, it doesn’t dive into many new features per se. The upgrade from ICS to JB appears to be more of a bug fixer than anything.  (more…)

  • Order a 16GB Nexus 7 From Staples and Save $15 Plus Free Shipping

Ten minutes ago, I got all excited over the fact that if you order(ed) a Nexus 7 16GB from Staples today, you could save $15 off using a special coupon code, but also get free shipping since you would be spending over $45. Unfortunately, as I was in the middle of writing this, I noticed that they appear to have gone from “In Stock” to “Out of Stock” in minutes. I would assume that they will replenish stock of the device before too long, so I still thought I would share. Who knows, they could get another shipment in before the weekend is over and this code may continue to be valid. If you have yet to pick up an N7, you may want to jot this one down and continue to check back.  (more…)

  • Quick Look: Portenzo Custom BookCase for Nexus 7

Portenzo hit us up a couple of weeks ago to see if we were interested in checking out the Nexus 7 BookCase that they had created. At first, we hesitated because typically, we see readers who care more for softer feels and portability in a case, but then we learned that these are custom, hand made in the U.S. with incredibly high quality materials and had to give them a try. We also know that they are popular in the uber-competitive iPad case business. So here we are, with 2 custom Nexus 7 BookCases from Portenzo.  (more…)

  • Samsung to Release Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition Bundle for $250 at Best Buy

If you are looking to buy an Android tablet right now, it’s hard to over look ASUS. Whether it be the Nexus 7 or the higher priced Transformer Infinity, they are on top of the Android tablet game. Although, if you are a sucker for a good deal, you might want to check out the bundle that Samsung and Best Buy have put together which is to arrive in stores around August 19.

For $250 you can have the 8GB 7″ version of the Galaxy Tab 2, along with a keyboard dock and a USB connector. Not a bad bundle if you consider that keyboards for tablets usually run anywhere from $30-$50 by themselves.

Wouldn’t it be nice to see a huge price war between tablet OEM’s at around $200?
