Google just released the first Android O Developer Preview! For real, though, it’s here!
Android O will introduce new features by way of background limits on apps (think battery life boost), notification channels (more control over notifications), picture-in-picture, adaptive icons, autofill in apps, and more. Full details on what’s new can be found here.

A new Android beta update is arriving today, according to Googler Orrin Hancock. The update will arrive as build NPG47I for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Nexus Player. (more…)
Google just posted the Android security update for March 2017 and the files are already live for a number of devices. We were expecting this in part because of Verizon’s early acknowledgement of the update, but also because it’s the first Monday of the month.
So far, we are seeing 7.1.1 files for Pixel and Pixel XL (NOF27B, NOF27C), Pixel C (N4F26T), Nexus 6P (N4F26T, NUF26N), Nexus 5X (N4F26T), Nexus 6 (N6F26U), Nexus Player (NMF27D), and Nexus 9 (N4F26T). (more…)

The Android 7.1.2 Beta image and over-the-air update arrived for the Nexus 5X last night and users who updated immediately started looking for new goodies. The first found is the newest addition to “Moves,” which are the physical actions Google has added to Android that allow you to quickly open the camera or check notifications on your display without waking your phone, for example. The newest steals directly from the Pixel, though. (more…)
For anyone not down with flashing builds manually, it appears that Google has green-lighted the OTA update rollout for Android 7.1.2.
Keep in mind, this OTA is only available to those with a compatible device (Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, and Pixel C) and who are enrolled in the Android Beta program. If you aren’t signed up, you can do so here and instantly download the beta. And for anyone with a Nexus 6P, don’t worry, access for you should be made available soon. (more…)
